Aussie Disneyland Planners come on in and lets plan together :)

Okay everyone, let's play a little game.

How many days are you going for, and how many suitcases are you taking?

20 days For the three of us:-

1 big suitcase , 1 middling suitcase will be checked.
DH and DS have a backpack each and I have a carry on size rolling duffel

I use Eagle Creek packing cubes and folders and those squeeze-down space bags to minimise the volume. I've got a fold up suitcase for any shopping.

I try to pack light and plan on washing a few times - I love the way most American hotels have laundry facilities.

We are with United the whole way and they have already rung us about a few schedule changes.

Away 23 days. 5 people. 5 small suitcases. 5 backpacks or messenger bags. 1 camera bag. 1 carry on with spare clothes and toothbrushes etc.

We are going for 14 Days - there are 4 in our family...We are taking 3 suitcases (1 large 2 medium) , 2 trunki's, 1 backpack and 1 cabin bag and 2 strollers over.

We are buying a new luggage set over there so coming back we will probably have 7 suitcases with a stroller bag for the strollers.

I guess it depends on how carried away with the shopping I get :lmao:

1 pair of jeans (will be wearing another on the plane)
2 short sleeve t-shirts
1 long sleeve t-shirt
1 pair of shorts
5 changes of underwear
1 swimmers
1 warm jacket
1 pair of thongs (will be wearing sneakers on the plane)

That's all the clothes I plan on bringing - I plan on doing heaps of shopping :cheer2: If I need to buy more luggage to bring stuff back then I will :rotfl:

Okay so this is my big question to all of the people taking many bags:-

HOW ARE YOU GETTING TO AIRPORTS AND FROM AIRPORTS?????

Some of you are going to need a bus :lmao:

There was me, DH, and DD6.
Last year my in-laws took us to the airport in their really big 4WD. We had two larger suitcases and one small, a small everyday backpack for me, one for DH, and a small fairy wheelaboard for DD. We were only planning on going with two but her Princess Belle dress would of been crushed a bit too much for my liking, so yes, there was a lot of room to spare.

We did some serious shopping.

We purchased 2 large suitcases!!!!! I kept sending DH across to Target (we stayed at Homewood) to get more, and I didn't have to worry about DD's dress getting crushed on the way home + on the way home I had the space bags.

The driver of the town car that took us to the airport ended up putting one suitcase on the front passenger seat.

We pre-warned FIL that we had additional bags for the trip home. After picking us up FIL had to use the roof-racks as well!

We have 2 adults, 2 kids and a baby. We are away for 30 days.

Our luggage will consist of:
3 suitcases (probably 4 on the way back)
3 car seats
1 double pram
2 Trunki's
1 Cabin Bag
1 Nappy Bag
1 Camera Bag

We will probably buy a cheap stroller for our eldest child and leave it there.

We will be driving to the airport and leaving our car at one of the off-site parking lots. In America we are renting a minivan, which we will pick up at the airport.

Hi everyone.

We have 2 adults and 2 kids, trying to go with 3 large suitcase, 4 carryones,
1 smallish backpack, and hopefully we will put 2 or 3 expander cases we bought last time in one of the cases which we hope to go with empty.

We have a 7 seater minivan booked which will be fine with the cases.
We are going to pack this week which is exciting.

I just checked the prices for the hotel in Vegas and the room is now between $400 - $700 US per night !! Boy says something for booking early.

wow.what hotel is that?

we are just staying at excalibers, figured we wont be spending much time in the hotel anyway, so we can cope with something not so flash for the 4 days we staying there. but we cant wait to get to hojo, we love it there!!!

we are so seriously going to get our packing organised today.we leave in 12 days.we have bought all our stuff we are taking, you know the food/snacks for kids. extra rechargeable batteries for 3 cameras, heaps of memory cards and tapes for video camera.all the usual things that we just have to take:rotfl:
going to sort the clothes out today.have to dig out all our summer clothes, yeehaa.whats to bet the kids have outgrown everything....oh well just the more reason to buy heaps when we get to the outlet stores in vegas!!!:yay:

I'm cleaning out the fish pond today in preperation for it being left alone for 3 weeks. Good fun. Not.

I'm starting to get our packing organised today too. I've put together all the picnic stuff so today I'm doing DD and my clothes etc.

Looks like the rate may be on the way back up :thumbsup2

I am tossing up which passes to get, we have 6 full days in Anaheim and are staying at Hojo, I figure for the extra cost (not much $) I may as well get the 5 day pass and have the option to visit the extra days, even if we go to LA we can head to Disney at night ;)

We will be seeing it every day and knowing DS3 he will want to visit (especially if I tell him he wants to visit :rotfl2::rotfl:)

At this time in 9 weeks I will be on an aeroplane to Sydney then onto LA :)

Hi everyone,

My name is sue and along with hubby & 3 kids (13, 12 & 10) we are heading off to LA in 49 days. We are staying at HOJO for 5 nights then off to vegas for 3 nights, back down to stay in San Diego for 3 nights before finishing off with 6 nights back at HOJO's.

We could not decide whether to do DL at the start or the end so decided on both. We will be buying annual passes so that hopefully we will be able to make a return trip next year.

Sue

Looks like the rate may be on the way back up :thumbsup2

I have been watching this site,
forecasts.org/ausd.htm
to *hopefully* get an idea of what the exchange rate *may* do, and it looks like it will stay above 80c. But then again, who really knows?:confused3

Welcome suewith3. We are also staying at the Hojo and we are leaving in 47 days :dance3: I really will have to keep the accent radar on as it looks like there will be a few of us from the boards (at least 4) at the same place at the same time :thumbsup2

Hi Sue,
We are staying at Hojo too, and leave in 57 days - might be there for the second part of your visit.

It's starting to get exciting now

hey princessmiki, we are staying at the palazzo. when will you be in vegas?

Welcome Sue, sounds like you have a good trip planned.

I find all the chargers and cables you have to take a real pain. Nearly every
electronic device needs a different adaptor and charger! if they would just make it universal it would save a lot of luggage space.

hey steph, that dollar forcast site is very interesting. I read today they are saying it may go to 90c if the commodities keep going up, which
matches what the chart says. If it does reach 90c I will have to buy some more for future trips! that way you just have to go again!!!

How many packing cubes do you use? I have been looking at these as I use the large ziplock bags. These are ok for the kids clothes but not for mine or DH.
