Aunty's re-Opening May 25th

What kinds of activities do they actually have for the complimentary part? I'm wondering if a 12-year-old would actually enjoy it or if it really skews much younger. Is it highly organized or very free form?

Or, if it's not great for a 12-year-old, can we let her go around the resort with her high school senior brother? I know I can let them run around Disneyland without us, and I have a feeling we'll all need some time away from each other by this time in the trip.
I’ve been to Aulani many times and I’m not too familiar with Aunty’s Beach House. But I’m very familiar with the resort. If my kids were 12 and a high school senior, I would let them roam around by themselves. I would trust my kids with room charges as well. But you do what makes you and your family must comfortable.

Thanks for the encouragement! I trust them, and I figured it would be similar to Disneyland or World. Not too much trouble to get into as long as they're not stupid (and they're very cautious kids). And there are only so many times I feel like going down the water slide, lol.

Just wasn't sure what was allowed/frowned upon. Certainly I can let the high school senior wander around. I mean, if he can drive or hold a job, he can wander around Aulani. Wasn't sure about the tween and if CMs would question her.

Has Aunty's always been ages 5-12? I never paid attention before, but I noticed the age range on the Aulani website just now.

Oh, my heart is breaking. I just noticed that too! My kids are 4 & 7 and I mistakenly got them so excited for this last night.... ooof.

You have to call/reserve online each day 2 weeks in advance. I reserved today for 5/25 and have to try tomorrow for 5/26.
How was registration? I will be doing it in two weeks and would love to know how it is going for people. Are you only able to register for one session each day? This adds an element to planning that I wasn't expecting! Thanks for any insight you have.

What time 2 weeks out to we need to be on the website to book? I see I can call at 7am is that also when they open up on the website? (Hawaii Time)

Yes, the website updates at exactly 7am Hawaii time for dates 2 weeks in advance. I just registered my kids for May 26th. I tied to log on earlier, but just received a “no availability” notice.

This feels like a "phase in" thing like the did on Cruise Line. Hopefully these changes aren't permanent because they kind of stink.
It definitely has a “Pandemic Staffing Issues” feel to it. They’ll have one shift where they need to fully staff to support organized activities and full child care/oversight. And then the rest of the day can be with more limited staff.

But depending on the feedback, it wouldn’t be too surprising if they leave it with this model, or something similar. If they limit the hours that you can leave kids unsupervised, it may not be a big negative. Although, not being able to try for late afternoon - evening drop off definitely is less helpful (no date nights).

When our daughter was younger, she would’ve happily stayed in the cruise kids clubs for 4-6 hours a day. A couple of years later, it’s 2-3 hours tops. I’m guessing a 2 hour limit won’t be too bad, but it is harder to make any “real” friends in that time, so it’s much more likely that it won’t be as much fun for her.

Am I right is seeing that the latest reservation is at 12:30? So the latest reservation would end at 2pm? This is a great first step and we are going to be there with another family in a month so happy this happening. Sort of a bummer that the spontaneity aspect of it is gone though and later in the afternoon time slots when the kids are overall tired and had enough of the pools aren't available

If it's like it was before the pandemic then it's fairly free form. My now 11-year-old wants to go because they used to have one room that was all video games that he would camp out in. It was a nice change of pace from being outside at the pool.

So 1st timer here,,,I see upthread about 11yr which is great as I have one,,,but I also have a 15yr,,,is that too old,,aged out? Or is there a hang out for teens?
Thanks
15YO girl or boy? My 15YO girl enjoyed doing the Menehune trail iPad game but my son probably wouldn’t have at that age. He was 13 when we went and the two of them were happy just hot-lapping the slides and lazy river, with snacks in between. They wouldn’t even consider any of the other Aunties activities.
