Hey guys, I'm looking at booking our first trip to Aulani for the 2 of us and noticed the price for a studio hotel room vs a studio villa with the same view are the exact same price. Is there any reason I would pick a villa over the hotel room or vice versa? Note I'm not using DVC points.

Standard rooms are slightly larger 382 sq ft vs 356 sq ft, but the Villas include a wet bar and microwave.

so it sounds like it's the trade off between slighter larger room and a wet bar with microwave since both rooms can have similar sleeping configurations... hmmmm

Studio kitchenettes should also include a toaster, corkscrew/bottle opener & 4 ea. coffee cups & water glasses along with a small supply of paper plates, bowls & plastic silverware. (In FL we supplement that supply with extra stuff that we keep in our Owners Locker - I imagine we will buy more of these products at Target when we go to Aulani.)

We are a family of 3 (with 1 teen DS) and only use DVC studios and almost always make all of our breakfasts "in". Saves a little money to have the frig, toaster & microwave available. We enjoy toasted bagels & frozen waffles, sandwiches on toasted bread (BLTs, tuna salad) and I have also made breakfast sandwiches by microwaving poached eggs & cooking microwave bacon & putting them on toasted English muffins. You can get pretty creative with the kitchenette if you're at all interested in trying to save some money by eating a couple of meals "in". While I have no real desire to prepare our dinners "in" while I'm on vacation I don't mind doing breakfasts & am not opposed to making sandwiches for a few lunches here & there so we can afford nicer dinners "out".

Unless you have your heart set on requesting a king size bed for 2 ppl in a hotel room I personally would go with the studio just for the kitchenette.

Wherever we travel we always request a fridge. So even if you don't have food in it I would love the studio to keep beverages in the fridge. Saves a lot of money! Plus, we all like a cold drink before bed and in the morning.

To me it's nice to have a few plates and a fridge...
