Aulani Summer 2014 ? difficult?

I know it is a newer resort so you might not be able to tell me but how difficult is it to get a 2 bedroom during the summer months. We would need the end of June or August. There are 8 of us so a two bedroom would be best. Is it easier to get two studios? I have enough points for a week in any unit but ocean, If we have to stay ocean I will have to lose one night. Is it easier to book one cat. over the other? My kids are real excited about this idea and I don't want to disappoint. Advice please. Thanks

We are dealing with this exact dilema. My fiance and I have settled on having our wedding at Aulani in the summer of 2014. She is a teaher so our options for when to go are limited to this basically.

Between me,her and her parents, we have enough points to cover rooms for everyone in all view categories. We need a 2 bedroom, a 1 bedroom and 2 studios.

It is just so dicey as we can't really officially book our wedding date until 7 months out. Luckily we have the whole summer to work with but still might be tough to get all those rooms for a week each at 7 months.

I am hoping being online at 8am and the fact the resort will be fully open might give us a better shot than previous summers.

What many reported for this upcoming summer was that June through June 23 was quite difficult to get at 7 months and thereafter Aulani was easier to get with Aug being fairly easy, with the difference mainly resulting from the change in the seasonal point cost that occurred between June 23 and 24.

There is a very helpful thread about the Aulani views here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2907389. In the first post it tells how many of each unit there will be when the resort is complete and how the units are divided up. There are charts & maps to help illustrate this too. Very well done. Good luck - I stressed over getting our OV studio for this August. I think June is tough but the availability opens up just a little bit if you can wait until later in August when schools start going back. Many people with school age or college students will be taken out of the booking mix by mid-August.

Just adding to the above, the more likely problem you will have in the summer in latter half of July or first half of Aug is getting lower point cost standard or Island Garden view. For example I actually checked Aulani for first half of Aug at 7 months out this year and most was open, but closed out with multiple days missing were GVs, 2BR standard view, and standard or island garden view studios.

Agree, BUT - when I was watching prior to booking our OV studio I noticed that most of the lower point units were booked up more-so than the OV units. So we just made up our mind to go for the OV unit since it seemed more readily available. However, on the morning I actually booked I snagged the OV unit & once I was confirmed I went back & searched again & by 8:10 the OV units only had scattered availability while a couple of the lower point ones were still open. So I guess for our week (Aug 7-14) I snagged the last OV studio that had 7 consecutive days...but I COULD have booked a pool view instead (on that particular day). By later that day I checked again and all of the different units had scattered availability & we would've had to wait list to get a full week in any studio. BOOK ONLINE AT 8:00 eastern!!
