Aulani Ocean View room (non DVC)

We are planning our first stay at Aulani. We are thinking we will book an Oceanview, non-DVC room. My question is, if I book a non-DVC ocean view, will that guarantee a view of the pool/lazy river area? We would prefer ocean view/pool view so I want to make sure I book the correct room category. Is a pool view a request? Is one tower DVC only? I googled room views and only found maps with DVC room numbers, not for regular rooms.

The Ewa tower is exclusively DVC but the Waianae tower is mixed. There are cash rooms both inside and outside of the horseshoe, so some of the ocean view rooms will have a pool view but not all of them. I believe the cash rooms are both side of Waianae lobby wing and both sides of the short wing from the maps I've seen, but I've only stayed in DVC rooms. I don't know about room requests.

The ocean view rooms in the non pool side of the Waianae Tower also have a somewhat ugly view of the very close Four Seasons.

You have to ask for a pool ocean view. There are non pool view ocean rooms. I’ve had the best luck putting that request in my DVC reservation and then calling the hotel side about a week before the trip to confirm. Has never failed (knock on wood).

It’s officially called an internal ocean view room.

You need to call and speak to them and tell them what you're looking for. They can tell you better in terms of what category to book. I originally wanted a garden view view in EWA tower, only to find out from them that EWA holds studios and villas. You don't have to be DVC to book those categories. But anything in the standard room categories (standard, island, pool, ocean) you're gonna be in Wainaie Tower.

As others have said, you will need to call the Aulani front desk to request the ocean/pool view. There are designated pool view rooms which the highest floors for that room view is on the 5th floor.

We were upgraded to an ocean view overlooking the pool area. Like others have said, I would call Aulani and ask them to put this request on your reservation and then when you check in, I would mention it to the front desk cast member just to make sure they see it on the reservation. Requests are never guaranteed, but it doesn't hurt to put in requests and kindly mention it to cast members. An additional note, when you call to make a request I would ask for the highest floor available. We were only one floor away from the top and fell in love with the view. This is from our balcony.
