Aulani luau

Trying to decide between the PCC luau or the Paradise Cove luau? is one better than the other?

The PCC show is very different from a typical luau. There's a story to it, about family and the circle of life. I found it quite moving. There are a few dinner options, I've only had the island buffet...which was...edible? There's no alcohol since it's run by Mormons. I haven't been to the Paradise Cove one, which is walkable from Aulani. PCC would be over an hour drive.

PCC is an all day affair (if you want to really experience it all), and the location is on the opposite side of the island...so a long drive after a long day.
We loved our experience at Paradise Cove. We opted for the deluxe package...which I recommend instead of the total bottom tier.
Personally, I like a Mai Tai during my luaus.

We went to the Paradise Cove luau and it was wonderful. There was a shuttle from Aulani. WE booked the reserved seats and I highly recommend it. You are served your meal as opposed to standing in a buffet line and you have front row seats for the performance.

Are there any other luau's that are recommended? There seem to be so many and all seem to be priced roughly the same, so I'm hoping to get some personal comparisons.

Can someone give more details about these and where to book? Does Aulani not offer daily nighttime shows? Or are these something that must do in Hawaii?

I heard the Marriott no longer does their Luau, but I could be mistaken.

Disney does a twice weekly Starlit Hui....or something like that. Weather permitting. No luau food or anything....you are given a bamboo mat to sit on. I think the show is well done....not "cheesy" like some of the luaus.

We have only done Germaine's (once). It was fun, but we didn't do another one on our second trip. It was maybe 10 minutes from the resort, but in a weird industrial area, but right on the water. For convenience I would do Paradise Cove next time.

The Marriott Vacation Club luau is called Fia Fia. It had closed, but is now back up, I think only on Tuesdays. I've read good things about the show, especially Chief Sielu (he also does a luau at Sea Life Park). I thought about going on our last trip, but others in my party weren't interested.

Has anyone done the Chief's Luau at Sea Life Park?

For those who have done both a "traditional" luau and the Starlit Hui, knowing the latter does not include a meal, was the pricey cost worth it for the luaus with food? Or does Disney's show satisfy enough for the experience? I've already spent a good dime on a dolphin snorkel excursion and am debating on whether a more traditional luau is worth it.

The Starlit Hui is a good taste of the luau show experience. I can think of 2 things that it doesn't have that a traditional luau usually does - unearthing of the Emu (roast pig in the ground), and fire dancing. The Starlit Hui male dancers do hold a fire torch, but they don't spin it around or anything like that.

We've been to the Fia Fia Luau at the Marriott property two times - it really is an awesome show. And so convenient. We've always stayed at the Marriott, so it really is so nice to just take the elevator down to the luau. Even walking from Aulani wouldn't be bad! Like a previous poster said, it is back up at the Marriott. We are thrilled about this and plan on going to the show again on our trip next month. Maybe we'll branch out and try another luau one day, but we can't beat the convenience with a 3.5 year old! If he's done one of us can leave with him while the others continue to enjoy the show.

The luau at the Sea Life Park is the same as Fia Fia.
