I booked a few nights at Aulani for January (we are going to spend 5 nights in Kauai first) and am researching flights. I am leaning towards a late evening flight but was wondering if Aulani has facilities for you to take a quick shower, etc. after you have already checked out of your room but before you leave for the airport? I thought I read a blurp about this but haven't been able to find any more information regarding this.

If they do have an area to take a shower, etc. how did you like it (i.e. was it nice)?

Yes there is a lounge for late flights, that include lockers, showers, etc. Its actually a pretty common feature for Hawaii based resorts.

Ahhh - thank you.

I have only stayed in a hotel once in Kauai and our flight was midday so I never experienced the lounge. I used to live in Kalaheo, Kauai so never had a need to stay anywhere when flying back and forth to the mainland (I miss the days when TWA would fly direct to St. Louis from Hawaii - now I have to make at least 1 stop).

We used the lounge during our trip in June. The women's locker room and shower facilities were very undersized for the crowd we experienced IMHO. It seemed most people enjoyed the resort until the last possible minute which had us all trying to use the lounge facilities at the same time. There were only 3 or 4 showers, one small sink area, and a small changing area (that seemed to be partially in view when the door opened) for at least fifteen women plus small kids. I would recommend either allowing extra time for showering/dressing or trying to go earlier in the afternoon. Of course the men's area seemed to handle the rush with no problems:).

If you plan to take a shower, there are no washcloths only towels. Make sure you get one from your room before you check out.

I agree with the comment above that the facilities are too small. We few out on a Saturday evening...I'm guessing a common time. We allowed extra time to shower but should have allowed even more. We had to wait in line to use the showers and the changing/dressing space is tight. They do have lockers to use for the day.....but they were a little small too!

The morning of our check-out, I went down to the lounge and secured a locker, maybe two now that I think about it because I wasn't sure if they would all be used later in the day. We didn't use the shower so I can't comment on that, but, even though it is not the same thing at all, there is an outside shower near the beach entrance that people use to rinse off the sand. For those reading this that don't just want to rinse off chlorine and are fine without a full blown sudsy shower, you could always rinse off outside then go inside the locker area to change. Just mentioning what is available for those who have not yet been to Aulani.

Yes, we did use that room after checkout, and there were two or three showers (one huge accesible one), two sinks, some hair dryers, and lockers in the Ladies room. Not much changing area, but it was quiet when we were there, so it worked out great for us.

Also, big deal for us was the ability to print boarding passes, since our flight got postponed to 1 AM:scared1:. We were able to secure an earlier flight to Seattle and then onto NY.

We just returned from Aulani on Labor Day and had a 9 pm flight. Note that there is also a bathing suit spinner machine to get your suits mostly dry. As DVC members, you can ask the Concierge for free tokens to the laundry room (since we couldn't use the washer/dryer in our room anymore). We did this and got our bathing suits completely dry so we could pack them for the flight home to California. We got lockers in the lounge (we needed 2 for all our stuff for 4 of us) in the morning before checkout time. By the afternoon, it was hard to secure a locker as they were all taken. We suspect that resort guests are using these lounge lockers just to avoid going up to their rooms and do not all have late flights or early check-in. Unfortunately, there are no resort staff members to monitor to make sure the lounge is used appropriately.
