So I've just booked a split Aulani stay for me and my honey in the beginning of December (the first week). We're staying four nights in an ocean view studio, hitting some of the sights like Pearl Harbor and the North Shore, then hopping to the Big Island for three nights, than back at Aulani for the final three nights in a one-bedroom ocean view (DVC points) where we plan to stay mostly around the resort. We'll have a rental car the whole time. We are so excited! First time for DH and me to Hawaii! I'm constantly reading this Disboards thread to learn everything I can to make the most of our stay.

Can anyone who has visited in December let us know of any special things that may be going on during the holiday period there? I'm assuming some lobby decorations, but anything else? Any cool holiday stuff around Oahu you might have encountered? We know the surfers are likely to be there during December for competitions, but would be grateful for any other advice/tips about making the most of our Aulani visit at this time of year. We are so hoping it will be a less crowded time to experience Hawaii!

We stumbled upon the Kailua-Kona Christmas Parade one year in early december. It was so much fun, real hometown feel but in a tropical setting. Last year it was on Dec 10th so you might catch it while you are over on Big Island. Oahu has a gorgeous light parade for Christmas as well and it begins a month long christmas light display in Honolulu. Here is the link for that https://www.hawaii.com/event/honolulu-city-lights/

Thank you! We will definitely check that out!
