Aulani Honeymoon- November 2016!

November 9th, 2017-- PART TWO-- Resort and Spa Day!

After our little beach excursion, it was time to head back to the resort for our spa appointment. We actually didn't make a reservation before we arrived, because as I mentioned before we were taking it pretty lax and flexible on this trip. We actually went in the day before to see if they had anything available for the rest of our stay and we were happy they had something available the next day at a pretty good time! We went during the off-season so we were banking on the fact that the resort wasn't going to be packed- which it wasn't- so it really worked out for us! I have to admit, I understand we went at a slower time of year, but I really loved the flexibility and relaxed nature of this vacation. I'm glad we chose to do this over WDW, even though WDW is my second home, it would have been a much busier, less relaxing time then Aulani ended up being!

The spa was heaven sent! I mean, there's just no better way to put it! I loved every single second of our experience there! It was phenomenal. And my DH loved it just as much as I did! We were told to arrive in our bathing suits about 45 minutes prior to our appointment time. We checked in and then shortly we were met with a spa guide to show us around the facility, to get us comfortable with where everything was and how things worked. This took about 25 minutes in total I'd say.

This was a wonderful part of the spa experience! In the very beginning you walked down a long hall that ends in a circular hub that leads off into additional hallways. At the center of the hub is a tranquil reflection pool filled with smooth stones. We were given the opportunity to close our eyes and randomly select a stone from a basket the tour guide had in his hands. The stone had a word carved into it that was meant to be our word to focus on that day while in the spa. Surprisingly enough DH and I randomly selected the same word out of about 30 stones! Our word was 'Moe 'Uhane' (which translated means 'Dream'). At the end of our spa stay we were each given a complimentary sample of bath salts that were centered around our focus word. We thought this was such a fun component!

After being shown the rest of the spa (the lounges, ladies locker room for me and mens locker room for DH, steam room, etc) we were taken out to the hydrotherapy garden to enjoy ourselves while we waited for our appointment. We only had about 10 minutes to enjoy after the tour and having to change in the locker rooms into our robes. That is why my biggest tip is to leave yourself plenty of time after your spa treatment, because you can stay in the spa after your treatment as long as you'd like and enjoy all of the facilities ( hot tubs, steam room, reflexology path, hydrotherapy showers, indoor showers for after you're all done). Also, the spa lounges have complimentary small snacks, which were delicious, and a variety of infused waters everywhere all with different fruits and veg for different purposed to help hydrate and detox! When you factor ALL of this into the price your paid for your treatment, it's actually a fantastic value!

My DH and I opted for the middle package couples massage. The massage we selected was called 'Ohi'a 'Uhane' which is Hawaiian for 'Love Story.' It was an 80 minute (although I think we went slightly over) couples treatment that consists of a 20-30 minute all over tropical body exfoliation (which you get to pick the scent of individually-- so husbands/boyfriends/girlfriends you don't have to be florally-- unless you want to!), followed by a couples shower (which you are given complete privacy for), and then finally the 50 minute lomilomi couples massage. We opted for two female masseuses', but the option is up to you when you make your appointment! All in all this cost us $450 I believe. Which was our big splurge of the trip, and I don't regret it one bit! The spa and the spa staff were top notch amazing! The spa is honestly one of the biggest reasons I want to go back to Aulani!

After the spa we headed over to Monkeypod for our reservation, then we came back and had a simple night out of the resorts terrace, laying on this big comfy couch and playing Pokemon GO! and relaxing lol. We had another early night in, grabbed our showers and went to bed by 10 pm!

Here is just a few extra pictures from previous days that I've talked about, but I can only put 10 pictures in each post, so I thought I'd add just a few extras!

This is inside the girls locker room (there was no one else in there at the time). Plenty of WC's and showers, towels, and even hair dryers, lotions and other products for after you've showered to help you freshen up!

A few of the hot tubs in the Hydrotherapy Garden.

Across the street from Aulani-- a small restaurant and shopping area, which includes an ice cream shop, MonkeyPod, and more!

Oh man, you are making me want to go back so bad! I love that you guys really took time and savoured the resort itself. Sounds like an amazing first day.
I want to ask, from that first picture you posted-it looks like there are products for sale in the spa. Are they typical spa type things or are they Aulani branded and special to Aulani? I know you can buy the H20 products at the Hale Manu boutique.

Thank you so much! And I know, I'm making myself want to go back so bad as well! haha. We really loved the resort and we did try our best to relax and be in the moment! We even barely used our phones (only to take pictures and after dinner to play games together!)

Yes, the spa does sell your more normal "spa type" items, and yes they did have some products there for sale that they used in the spa, but then they also had a lot of cute non-Aulani themed gifts and things. Such as bath bombs that looked like cupcakes, more grown-up bath salts and bombs and lotions, etc as well! They also sold the amazing, amazing cashmere spa blankets that you can use in the spas. My DH wanted to buy one so bad, but they were like $200+ and it was just too painful to shell out! Maybe next time! haha.

As far as Aulani specific, I really think based on my memory the only things they had were the spa's robes and sandals, again the same ones used inside the spa. That's really all I remember seeing that was Aulani specific! They had some nice things in the shop though!

Your report is making me so excited about our upcoming trip! Congrats to both of you!
