Hi Everyone,

My family and I are heading to Hawaii August 21st (Hale Koa) then heading over to Aulani 1bdrm August 26-Sept 4. We are going to Hawaii to celebrate my husband receiving his master's degree :banana::banana: 3 very long years on him, DD9, and me. I would LOVE to take him out to a nice dinner; after reading a few posts that doesn't sound like at the resort? Does anyone have any suggestion's? here's what I'm looking for, husband will eat anything....me not so much ;) I love steaks and chicken. It will be just the 2 of us or possibly our friend's (DD9 will be with 20 yr old cousin).

Thank you for any help, we are sooo excited to experience Aulani,

Kris

If you didn't want to try AMA'AMA I would suggest Roy's as the next best choice, it is within the Ko'olina area. I always enjoy it there.

I really enjoyed Ama Ama at Aulani. The steak was delicious. If you do decide to eat there, I suggest making a reservation for 7pm or later. We dined at 5:30 and the sun was setting. We were lucky to have the sun blocked by a large stone pillar but other diners were bothered by the sun.

I have read that Chuck's Steak & Seafood at the Marriott next door is excellent (but I cannot personally say so).

Have a great time at Aulani. It was absolutely amazing!

I would choose Roy's at the golf course over the Mariott. We went to both 3 weeks ago. The Mariott was a bit of a dump- dirty (filthy) floors and patched walls. To get to Roy's, you go out of Aulani, take a right. The golf course is a short walkable distance on the left.

We just ate at Ama Ama Friday night. Our meal and service were excellent. DH had a steak and I had the chicken. And we had a beautiful view of the ocean!

Thank you everyone! After your advice I'm going to reserve Ama Ama for 7 pm :cool1: It's going to be a very long 23 days until Hawaii.

I wouldn't discount going to. Malahiki for dinner. I have heard it is bery similar to BOMA at the animal kingdom lodge, WHICH is my absolute favorite place to eat at Disney World. It is like the chef put out everything on a great menu and said "try it! As much of everything and anything you want!" I have read so many posts that diss buffets...any buffet, without trying it. The only buffet we seem to have here in upstate NY, REAL upstate NY, is the Country Buffet, and NO I don't eat there. But Boma is a gem I never miss on any visit. We do the coffee, tea, fruit, breakfast, light sndwich,or salad for lunch and a nice dinner. Just some advice. We'll be there August 24-31, ocean view studio, and will be at Malahiki at least 2.3 times, I'm sure....!

The dinner buffet was great! The prime rib was excellent and the beef short rib was my favorite. My son was in sushi heaven.
