Aulani for Teens

We will be at Aulani for 4 days in August after staying 8 days at the military resort on Waikiki. I have 3 children (9,15,17). I know there are plenty of activities for my 9 year old but what about the teens? I would just hate for them to get there and spend most of their time in the room on their cell phones.

Last summer I saw lots of teens down on the beach area playing all kinds of games. They looked they were having a lot of fun. We will be there in June and my daughter is 13 this summer so maybe I can let you know when we get back if she participates.

Has anyone sent DDs to the teen spa? I'm guessing it's pricey, but may be worth it for a bday present. Wondering about the "mixology" scrubs....is that a make-and-take thing? Is it a "with certain treatments" freebie or just some a la carte thing? I didn't see any spa pricing online...if did I just miss it?

There is a good beach with paddle boarding, the lazy river and slides. And there are excursions for surfing, etc. when we take our grand kids who are teenagers, we take cell phones and iPads away except for an hour a day. If they want to sit and pout that's their problem.

Pricing is online in the regular spa. When you call they are amazingly helpful. We booked all my girls mani, pedi, facial, massage.... note on the spa stuff if you do the longer times it requires you to stay with her as those services occur in the adult spa portion but the shorter times I guess still happen in the Painted Teen (not sure where in there)...

We were there with our two DS, then 27, 19 almost 2 years ago end of May. They loved the resort, beautiful pools, GORGEOUS beach, great weather! Yes to paddleboarding, Pearl Harbor, and if you can do it, highly recommend Kualoa Ranch, so much FUN! ENJOY gorgeous Aulani!

There are loads of teen programs, some on the beach and some in the Pau Hana room. They typically start at 3:30 each day and change daily. Especially during the summer there will be a lot of teens, which make these programs more fun. We were there in March & my teens (14 & 17) spent all their time at the pool or the beach. As stated above, there is plenty for them to do but we also toured the island.

One of the things I LOVED about Aulani was that my kids who are older teens really "let it go" and sort of became kids again. They had fun together in the pool, fun with us in the lazy river, enjoyed being themselves and didnt have too worry too much about looking cool because it is a bunch of families hanging around with kids/teens of all ages. There are lots of activities that fall under the adult category that my eldest was interested in as well so dont limit it to teen things either...

We did a full day tour with a nice buffet lunch choice of 3 different activities. We did an open bus tour which we saw the filming site of Jurrassic Park, then the Catamaran tour on the gorgeous water, breathtaking view of mountains, and the last was a 1 hour ATV tour which was INCREDIBLY fun, 2 older sons loved it! Go if you can, so AWESOME!
