We are doing 5 days in aulani in May. On one of the days we were thinking of renting a car to do the north shore. Anyone know what the price is at alamo for one day? We would want to pick it up in the morning and drop off at night that same day so we wouldn't have to pay for hotel parking (we are not dvc members).

My best advise is for you to search yourself on the Alamo rental car site - choosing the Aulani desk as your pick up/drop off point. This would be somewhat impossible to answer at this point since we do not have the date and there are several car types to choose from that affect the price.

If you are a Costco member, I highly suggest looking at the cost through their Costco Travel site. During our last stay, we did not book under DVC (we used my SIL's CM discount) and only rented a car one day through their Alamo desk. We needed two minivans for the day, and the Alamo site quoted me $300 for the day for each one where Costco Travel had the same car/same day for $150 for the day. Even if you are not a Costco member, you can search the fees to see if it is worthwhile.

Don't know what prices are for May, but an economy and compact in late June was a few cents shy of $155. A mid-size was a few dollars more. Look at the Alamo car rental website. Put Aulani in the pickup box and go from there.

Elsewhere, someone posted a taxi to Costco was about $10, so you can factor that in if you decide to use them.

Wow, this is more money than I thought it would be. Thanks for the imput, i didn't think a one day rental would be so expensive. I will try to look at the alamo website as often as I can and watch for a good deal.

Go to the discount hawaiiann car rental site. I always use them as they are the least expensive by far. Very reliable. Have used them on all of our trips to Aulani. I highly recommend them.

You do not have to go to Costco if you book through them. They book with the directly with Alamo. You just go down to the desk and pick up your car.

Discount Hawaii car rental is another good option like PP mentioned.

Good to know.

I'm going to be there for 2 weeks so I'm getting a car for the entire time. Always looking for a good price.

PS: Just booked and saved $200! Thanks for the tip!

Hello everyone. OP here, just wanted to update everyone and let you know that i just booked an amazing deal. Aulani was offering free airport transportation and a one day free car rental during my stay. I was able to combine this special with my room special which was 30% off and a $50 a day resort credit. I'm feeling very happy and lucky that this promotion was available during my stay!!!

I don't know if it is possible or not, but one idea is to check the rates at the Enterprise location in Kapolei which is nearby and see if they are cheaper. If so, maybe they would drop the car to you at Aulani and also let you drop there and get a ride back. Let us know what you do.

Just saw you post where you got a deal. I'll leave this post intact for others as a possible idea. Have a great trip!
