Aulani airfare

I was wondering if anyone had any insight into what is considered a good price for airfare from the east coast to Aulani? Most fares I'm finding are between $725-$780/ person round trip and I wasn't sure if I should wait or not, we're still around 7 month mark. Thanks.

This sounds about right (I'm also an east coast departure), but can vary depending on what airport you're departing from and the airlines you are looking at. If you have more than one departure airport to choose from, check out their prices as well. I wanted to try Hawaiian Airlines, which has some good fares, but to do so I had to fly to a connecting airport which caused the prices to be more than other airlines from my local airport (and also take up to 10 hours longer to make the connection).

Airfares fluctuate and can change at a moment's notice, so if you're seeing what appears to be a good price, book it sooner than later, as the prices almost always go up, seldom down. Frequently the prices will begin to change the most starting around the 45 day mark, but this can depend greatly on the destination, time of year, and even the originating airport.

We're in the same boat as you, and that seems like the prices we're looking to pay as well; we're planning on booking flights this weekend. I'd say not to wait.

We also fly from the east coast, Orlando, FL in our case. I think your prices you've found sound pretty doggoned good. If the connection airport, depart/arrive times, etc., look good to you I would book it.

I book as far in advance as possible because I upgrade with miles. I am really choosy about which airline and which routes, even which aircraft! For me, I want the longest nonstop possible, on the biggest plane possible. We have always flown 767's, just my personal favorite with my chosen airline. Happy planning!

We flew direct from Atlanta at the end of May (roundtrip) on a Delta Airlines 747. Roundtrip tickets were about $1100 when I booked in February. The longer I waited the more the price increased. I could of had them for $950 if I booked a few months earlier. However, if I waited another month they would have been $1300. I learned my lesson and will book earlier if price is reasonable. If direct flights are not a must for you then there is money savings in connections sometimes.

We can fly out of Orlando as well. Which airline do you use and which stops. I think we are going to add Maui on to the end of our trip.

I booked in January for this August, and paid $852 pp from JKF to HNL on Hawaiian. Going there we connect in Las Vegas, and coming home is direct. Only once when I checked did I see the prices go down, but it's gone up and stayed there. Our first half of the trip from JFK is on JetBlue and our connection into HNL is Hawaiian. We splurged on the flight home on the extra comfort seats

I was able to find round trip tickets from NYC to Honolulu for early December last year, through United, and I booked in early November (a month before the trip) - for $581.

I thought that was pretty good. You never know!

I think that sounds great - and pretty average for summer airfare. When we went last August we paid closer to $1,200 pp for DC & back. BUT we stopped in LA for 3 nights which added to the cost and we island hopped to Maui so we returned from there. You might find cheaper in the off-season times like TavieP found above. But I'd say for summer expect $750-800ish and just shy that much for shoulder seasons.

True - air is the worst expense from the east coast. But it's cheaper than doing a cruise on the Fantasy………..

We went to Aulani for cheaper than what we could've done a Fantasy cruise for - including the food. The summer Fantasy cruises I priced were in the $6-7K range (for 3 people). And that didn't include airfare to / from FL. That's absurd and at those prices we'll make it back to Aulani again before we ever step even a pinky toe on that ship.

We've looked at cruises and found Disney very expensive when compared to other lines. But putting things in perspective, you made a lot of sense comparing the 2. Cruises you still need to fly there, pay the cruise, and pay for any shore excursions. I agree, it would be cheaper going to Hawaii from the east coast....

I would suggest signing up for Hawaiian Airlines "Hawaiian Miles"... I get email alerts on fare sales. I got one today RT from JFK for just under 700 dollars... like all the airlines there are "rules" behind the rate... but worth looking at... Also, what we did to cut the rate, once we decided we were going to Aulani, we got a Hawaiian Airlines Mastercard... they had a 35K mile promotion, and then we put almost everything on it for three months we are going RT from Oakland all on miles... ( once we had enough miles for the flight... then back to the Disney Visa to pay for the rest of the trip... or as much as we can...)

We paid about 1100pp for our trip a few weeks ago. I priced flights for a long time and they never seemed to dip below 1000. This was round trip from Newark, short layover in LA. On the way home we stopped in LA a few days to do Disneyland. But the stop on the way home didn't seem to increase flight cost. Prices were pretty much the same if we stayed in LA a few days or just a few hours. United airlines was who we ended up going on because they offered the best rate for the itinerary we wanted.
