Just wondering how the 1 BR compares to the 1BR at Bay Lake. We could save points by not going into a 2 BR, but not sure if one bath is enough. Also, does anyone know if the pull down bunk is big enough for a 15 yr old girl?

Thanks for the help.

The pull down bed is big enough for a 15 YO teenage girl. The bathroom is very big so there should be enough room for people to get ready.

Have fun!!!!

There are two sinks/vanities in the large bathroom, one is in with the toilet and shower and the other is in an adjoining area with the whirlpool tub.

We were there last week with four of us---DH, me, DDs 12 and 8, and I felt there was more than enough room in our 1 bedroom. We positively LOVED it!!

Thanks for the replies. If we get to go to Aulani, it would be nice not to strip all of our points. As much as I would love to go to there, I know that I will still want to get back to DW -

the layout of the bathroom does look big and I like that its split. My kids are all teens and I don't want to spend the whole time breaking up fights over who's taking more time in the bathroom to get ready in the morning.. (although, that will probably be me:rotfl2:)

thanks.

We put my 5 year old on the pullout. I think it may depend on the size of the 15 yr old. Average or petite not a problem, very tall it might be a tight fit.

The bathroom is huge and like others said the one vanity is separate from the shower room so no issues there.

In regards to getting ready, I think it depends on how many excursions you plan to do ie everyone will be getting ready if you are heading out to go somewhere. But, if you are just getting up and heading to the pool or lagoon, not much getting ready involved!!! LOL

Another tidbit, there is a desk in the master which has a large mirror above it, that could be used as a vanity for someone to apply makeup or style hair. It sems like there was another large mirror somewhere in the villa but I can't recall its exact location at this moment.

If you can save points by getting a one bedroom vs. two, i would not hesitate to save points. i thought the one bedroom was very spacious.

Would you say the size of the pull down is a standard twin? similar to what I would find at the Poly day bed?

Thanks

I'm not sure. My DS sleeps in a double at home so the twin seemed small but I assume it was a standard size. Maybe someone there can actually measure.

We have stayed in both (we are two adults). I say the fold down bed is not big enough for a 15 year old. And, yes, we missed the 2nd bathroom with just the two of us. Especially when you are rushing to get to a dinner reservation, or just come up from the pool or beach, it sure is handy to have 2 bathrooms. :cutie:

Thanks for the info. I was afraid the 1bathroom wouldn't be enough for 5 of us- the bath looks big in the 1 BR, but I think we would be fighting over it trying together ready. I will probably try for the 2 BR - I don't care about the view - not sure how hard it will be to get a standard or island view 2BR

Thanks for all the info - I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but we are going to Aulani next May - looking to get all the info I can. We are owners at AKL - so we'll be staying on pts. - anyone know where I can get TONS of info on all things Aulani - :) -- I've been scouring the boards, but going through tons of post is hard!!!

Thanks!!!

@Wendypooh - We're going in March - so I'm doing the same thing. We're doing 8 nights in an oceanview (?) studio and 3 nights in a standard view one bedroom. Of course, now we know that an "ocean view" means we might be able to see the ocean, but we're ok with that. ;)

:) Awesome, we can't book just yet - but, I'm guessing based on what I have read that I won't book an Ocean view and save the pts. We plan on at least 2 weeks, maybe longer - and I may just go with the 2br so we don't kill each other!! lol

I'm just trying to learn as much as I can - I'm OCD when it comes to planning trips.......... :rolleyes1 -- but, I want this trip to be excellent of course!! :)

We just stayed there last month in one bedroom. Also, last summer we stayed at BLT in a one bedroom and I gotta say the 2nd bathroom is really nice. My kids are 14 1/2 years old and 11 years old. My 14 1/2 year old said that the pull down bed was too small for her height wise and she didn't like how it felt enclosed on the one wall. She is 5'6" if that helps. Plus, the other issue was that they had to go to bed at the same time. Lately my teenager has been sleeping a ton so, this was ackward. The bathroom is a nice set up with one sink and bathtub together and then, the shower, toilet and sink together. So, did share like one person showering and the other person using the sink/mirror in the same bathroom. I think it is tight with 4 and I don't know if I'd do with 5 but you could.

I have pictures here: http://travel.webshots.com/album/583162331pfYVaU

We have stayed in a 1 bedroom at BLT and Aulani with our family of 4.
While at Aulani we really missed the second bath. The split of the two areas (shower with sink/tub with sink) works okay but it would be better still if there were double sinks in each area.

The murphy bed from under the TV is on the small side (like the one in VGC). Our 15 year old daughter slept on it with no problem but she is on the shorter side. Just under 5'4'' and 112 pounds.

Thanks for the replies. I am looking into possibly going next summer for our 20th anniversary. If we can, then I think I will try to get a 2BR- but our home resort is BLT not Aulani, so I'm not sure what will be available at 7 months. I dont mind a standard view and using points for the bigger room, but I wont know whats available until I can book and with the construction starting I wonder if it will be harder to get something.

We are ok at BLT in a 1 BR but that is because there are 2 bathrooms.
