August trip

I am planning a trip around the 3rd week of august and I am wondering if it is really crowded during that time just like it would be in the states.

I would also like to know if anyone knows the fare for the train from Paris to Marne Lavalle.

I haven't been in August since I was at school (a good 12 years ago) but it is very busy in August as all schools are on holidays. Have a look at the trip report sticky and look at ones from August to get an idea of how busy it will be

For a family on a budget do you have a hotel you can recommend?
The disney hotels seem rather expensive.

The Disney hotels increase in price from Santa Fe - Hotel Cheyenne - Sequoia Lodge - Newport Bay Club - Hotel New York - Disneyland Hotel.

All Disney Hotels give you the same advantages of extra magic hour (emh) and have your purchases sent to your hotel for collection.

Sequoia Lodge and upwards have pools.

There are also some partner hotels that are close by and served by frequent shuttle buses. There can often be found great internet prices for these hotels. And while not Disney you are only 10 minutes away from the magic - Holiday Inn, Kyriad, Dream Castle and Hotel Explorer

When we went in the last week of august, it wasn't too busy until the saturday, which was mad! We bought some cheap fastpasses from eBay which helped, as we could have two or three rides lined up at any one time.

From Paris to Marne-La-Vallee is quite simple. We missed our direct Eurostar and were luckily transferred to a later one that took us to Gare du Nord. DBF picked up two 5E tickets to go on the RER while we were in Ashford, so it was a quick hop from the Eurostar to the Red line RER, changing at Chatelet Les Halles to go straight through to Marne-La-Vallee.

We went in August last year on a Weds, Thursday and Friday.

Although Weds & Thurs were busy, Friday was horrendous. I would definitely try and avoid Friday to Sunday if possible.

I can recommend the Adagio apartments at Val D'Europe http://www.adagio-city.co.uk/scripts/fiche_produit.php?id_ofr=285&id_sai_passe=1#accommodation
Although they are basic they are a good budget option as they are close to DLRP and Paris and very near a huge shopping Mall. Having the ability to self cater can save you a lot of cash - particularly if the Euro is still riding high against the dollar.
I stayed there for a week last August and we spent the weekend in Paris and weekdays at the parks. It was busy but manageable and we had lots of fun.

we were there fri - mon

and it really wasn't as bad as i'd expected / been warned about! ) and not as bad as our dec wkend trip!)

we made good use of EMH with our dream APs ,also fastpass where possible

we liked the later opening hours,nicer warm weather

definitely consider one of the offsite hotels ( explorers was good in dec)
lots in and around val d'europe area ( good supermarket to stock up too !)

most are served by shuttle bus if you dont want to drive
or the train ( from val d'europe) is just one stop away from disney

They are white fastpass cards with a strip on the back, and work on the fastpass machines just like your tickets for the park do. They're 'lifetime' ones, but don't give you access to the park. I've heard it's usually ex-Cast Members that sell them (not sure if this is just a rumour), anyway they normally pop up if you do a Disney ticket/voucher search on eBay.
They really did help though, especially on the busier days.

Tried looking on ebay for them a few times but have never come across them. Would really make life easier for my august trip

If the cost of a Disney hotel is not too much more then I would spend it, as the 2 EMH are worth a lot of money, IMO.

We went the third week in August last year, Sunday to Friday and it was fantastic. With the use of EMH, leaving the Parks during the busiest time of day and staying until 11 each night, we had a great time.

I've been in August three times now and find although it's busy it is very manageable and I always think the later park hours and fireworks far outweigh any crowds. Although I haven't been to WDW in August I have been there twice over Easter and it isn't quite as busy as then. Hope that helps.

We are also thinking of going around the 21st of August. I've now priced it 3 ways as a USA citizen and an Italian citizen, yes I have dual. Using my address in Italy is definately cheaper but then I clicked on the UK flag and it was even cheaper by $1000 from the US price. What gives? Last I checked Disneyland is located in Europe so I don't think UK could count as a resident.

Any ideas?

That was me. It worked and it was about $500.00 CAD cheaper than through the canadian site.

With the 40% off on UK website I booked at the cheyenne for the same price as an offsite hotel. So I am looking forward to EMH. I am still going to look on ebay since I am only there for two nights.
