We're hoping to do a trip for the 50th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion - so August 7, 2019. Around when should we start planning?

Rough outline of what we want to do: eat at Blue Bayou, stay at Disney hotel (this might be too pricey, would booking earlier help?), and maybe take a tour (assuming they offer a Haunted Mansion focused one). I suspect there might be something special going on, but we probably won't know for another two years....any thoughts?

We booked our Aug 27-31, 2017 trip on July 21, 2017 and we got a great rate at the Grand Californian Hotel. While there are not a lot of choices for dinner reservations at Blue Bayou less than 3 weeks out (there are still 4:40 times for all of our days), there are plenty of lunch times even this close.

With the actual opening date of SW land being a complete unknown for 2019, I'd stalk hotel sites for when they open their booking window and grab something that you can cancel without penalty as soon as it's available. Then watch for deals and rebook if necessary. Tours and dining are currently booked within 60 days, so focus all of your efforts on getting there and where you'll stay for now.

I got a great deal at the DL Hotel too for August 17 through August 23! It is about the deals! Enjoy your trip!

Keep checking the Disneyland website and the Disney Parks Blog. Most of the tours, WoC dessert party and Fantasmic packages open up 45 to 60 days out. Disneyland dining reservation open up 60 days out either online or by phone..714-781-DINE.
