This will be about my....5 or 6th trip to DisneyWorld. My very first trip was at the tender age of 2 years old. Of course I dont remember that.. but my mom does and of course she has pictures..my mom started collecting disney movies for me before I was born, so even before i was born i was hooked on Disney. all the disney movies i have loved greatly. in 2007 i moved from my home in SYracuse, ny to Kissimee, FL. which is a mere 15mins from Disney so anytime someone came to visit us i would go to Disney with them. it was 7 months of pure heaven for me.. the sun, the sand, the mouse.. but then we moved to Indiana.. and at the age of 24 i finally had a job.. and got the idea to go to DisneyWorld for a vacation.. so i started doing research. I was going to go with my friend Jana, treating it like a birthday/xmas present since i knew she wouldnt be able to pay for anything.planning was going well so far.. my mom and stepdad were going to drive down with us, they would visit family and friends we have down there...PROBLEMS ARISE NEXT POST
3 months before the trip..As i said my mom and stepdad were suppose to drive down with us.. But then my mother had a stroke and was in the hospital for a week.. she hemmed and hauled over still going, but she made the decision to not drive down with us, since all her doctors are here.
She felt bad about making us have to change our plans at such short notice, she was selling her computer anyways. So when the person that was buying her computer paid her.. she gave the money to me to pay for the plane tickets. Which was well more than enough.
She had also told me that under no circumstances was I not to go to Disneyworld.. that i had worked hard for that trip and i had earned it. Even if she was back in the hospital she still wanted me to go, which of course i wouldnt have gone.. it wouldna have been right....
problem 2 arose with my friend jana, that was suppose to come with me.. she had her little tantrums where she would up saying something to the effect of "maybe I shouldnt go' i had gotten to a point where i had enough of her tantrums and mood swings.. so the 4th time she did this to me.. i told her you know what.. fine! dont go! i will find some one else to go with me!! It takes alot to get me ticked off but she does things like that all the time.. so i got sick of it here i was being nice trying to do something nice for her and thats how she treats me... so here i am..2 months before the trip.. I start freaking in who i can invite.. the first person that comes to mind is my best friend Kayleigh.. only reason why i didnt ask her in the first place is because she has a 2 year old son.. an she thinks just like i do. that he really couldnt enjoy alot of it.. plus it would be good for her to see it first then bring her son later on.. plus with her fear of heights and rollercoasters(i share the latter), it would help her later on when he is older..
Just for the hell of it i asked her.. not expected a yes... but she said YES.. i was sooo excited.. soo happy.. things couldnt get better. me and kay get along so well we have only foungt once in the 10 years we have known each other plus we have gone on trips together before and been with each other 24/7 before and had no problems..
So this trip was gonna go alot better than i had expected.
So Things are finally falling into place for my Disney 2009 trip, which is my first non family and unsupervised trip, as well as Kay's first. As well as her first plane ride, with her being afarid of heights. I had gotten her over her fear of ferris wheels.. i could help her with this.. and we could help each other with our fear of roller coasters. we got to the airport early so i can have her sit by the window so she could watch the planes land and take off and get comfy with it.. and yes she got scared and nervous, grabbed my hand and squeezed but she did it, she faced her fear and rode the plane. we got there, had the disney magical express pick us up.. which was the coolest exprience ever! Walking down that red carpet to the awesome bus.. was really cool treatment.. thought nothing less than what i expected from Disney.. i kept everything a secret from her of how great disney is and how wonderful everyone treats you there... let her decide for herself.
The Resort... Pop Century is the resort we stayed at. It was the first time ive stayed on disney property but from the reasearch i had done staying on property is really the only way to do disney.. all the extra perks you get are well worth the money plus the great service you receive.. very much well worth it.. we got there.. fast and easy check in... very friendly person at the counter..w e found our room just fine.. quite easy and quick really, we were in a 80's room. the ones with yo-yo staircase.. we were so much in awe of everything.. after we got there.. we just kinda passed out while we waited for our luggage to get there...not even 2 hours after we got there our luggage was there.. it was great to not have to worry about luggage..they took care of it.. great feeling..so we were up.. and we were checking on weather for the next day.. what park the magic hours were at and such things.. 4am comes around.. and we look at each other.. lets go swimming.. so we get our bathing suits on and head out to one of the 3 pools at the PC.. then we were walking around the property exploring, taking pictures... having fun and goofing off.. the buses to the parks were great on time.. rarely did we have to wait longer than 10mins..
The Parks
The parks were great as well. the time of year we went was very specfically chosen for a couple of reasons one it happen to land in their value season.. and it was when people were back in school and at work from summer vacation. so there wasnt alot of ppl there which was a bonus.. so lines werent bad i think the average amount of time we waited was 10-15 mins.. rarely was it longer.. and even if your waiting most lines have little things to keep you entertained.. which is part of the Disney magic
Of course we didnt want to leave.. she didnt even want to leave, even though she missed ehr little boy..thats just the type of place disney is..you just never want to leave once your there.. we packed our stuff and of course we couldnt fit everything in our suitcase.. we each had a carry on and personal item( shopping bag full of stuff) plus what we were wearing out disney 2009 shirts(matching) that we bought, and our pirate Princess mickey ears hat.
Back on the plane and back home.. it sucked.. and we were sad.. but i think we were more tired than anything else.. lol
Money wise i'm doing well. Not only is my half of the everythign going down steadily.. but as spending money goes i will have hopefully mroe than enough and i wont have to go over at all when im down there. I got into the stock purchase thing at work. They take out $70 every 2 weeks and they match up to a ceratin amount of it to buy stocks at walmart. As of right now my stock money is at $325. i did a low estimate of what i should get by the time i go to sell it. The lowest I've ever seen the stock price is $52, ,the hightest being $56. so i estimated at $50 times the number of times i will get paid between now and then is 11 weeks.. which at $50 will me an extra $550..add that to the $325 i already have which will give me $875. then i get paid on the 4th day down there. Since will be ahead of paying to mom, i dont have to pay her on that check so thats a good $500+ more so hopefully that will be more than enough for down there.luckily i dont have to buy as much on this one.. something for kayleigh and keagan and something for my Zack.
I got all myu tax refund back. so i ordered everything i needed to.. My camera came already. The one i originally wanted wasnt availble when i went to order so i did a comparison from the 80gb(orignal one i wanted) to the 60gb, and from the reviews and the side by side comparision showed that the 60gb was better.. and cost a hell of a lot less money.. so that worked out well.. ordered the case for it and the battery charger.. but im thinking now i should get an extra battery so if the battery runs out during the day i have a back up ready for it.. found one, the highest capaicty for my camcorder for $60... so that should work out well. Since the camera was cheaper than expected i was able to more money on my disney bill..
My half is down to $1,955 total, including universal studios and seaworld tickets, and gas.. which turns out to be $1,690 just disney.. Maryann still hasnt paid anything on her half of the trip.. hopefully soon..
The reason why we decided to drive instead of fly is several reasons.
* the expense: plane tickets keep going up, and what with the recent attacks its gonna be more stressful to fly
* all the extra fees for luggage and stuff, the size limits the hieght and weight limits, the over the limit fees and whatever other fees them come out with till then
and as we listed the positives and negatives of driving vs flyiing the driving has alot more positives no limits, we can bring a cooler with our drinks and food etc.. since we wil have a mini fridge in our room.. we can bring drinks and stick them in there.. plus there is no rushing with driving doing everything on one day, with the plane everything is done in one day.. the getting to the airport, waiting for the plane to get ther, waiting for it to refuel, waiting for the ppl to load, waiting for the plane to move, waiting for it to take off, then landing the bussyness of getting to the bus, getting to the resort and all that all in the same day.. driving we can take our time.. enjoy being away from work yeah!!!
