Hi folks, first post . my family and I address flying over August 26th until September 9th for our first trip there (first time in states fire any of us). For planning purposes can we expect a noticeable drop off in crowds once it hits September with kids going back to school (at least they do here)

Thanks

Usually the crowds drop off after labor day. Many schools in the northeast and mid west go back after labor day. Our first day of school is Sept 8th. I know quite a few people around here going the last week of aug/first few days of sept.

Based on when kids start going back to school, crowds will actually start to drop off in late August, then drop a little more after Labor Day, which is the first Monday in September. easywdw is a great website, these calendars will give you an idea of what is expected. Crowds should be light your entire trip, but more busy on the weekends than weekdays.

We've been twice the first week of September, crowds were low. But along with low crowds comes short park hours. It will also still be very hot and humid, with thunderstorms capable of popping up in the afternoon.

A lot of our friends from UK and Australia come during that time. FD makes crowds increase too. It will be lighter than peak but don't expect it to be dead.

I haven't checked when MNSSHP starts this year, but hard ticket event nights also influence the crowd patterns and can make MK feel more crowded/quiet depending on whether there is a party that night. Not sure if your early September dates are affected, but we have usually noticed the change as soon as the parties start running for the season.

I'm going on similar dates as you. I have gone the week after labor day twice in the past. Labor day is late this year so I am expecting crowd levels to be between low and moderate. Not quite as low as the week after labor day but still lower than any other big holidays. Definitely still manageable :)

Can you describe what you've seen as far as the effect nighttime parties have on the crowds? Will MK be more or less crowded during the day when there is a party there that night? Any insight you can give would be so appreciated as we are slated to go during a week of MNSSHP parties but are not planning on attending the parties ourselves. Thanks so much!

MK will be less crowded on the party days. The mornings can be good. Then what happens is on the non-party days it will be more crowded because people want a full MK day.

Thanks for the response. Is labor day any different in the parks, anything special on? Or is it a day to avoid since its the last holiday before school restarts
