We're going the 6-13th and I'm starting to get worried about the crowds and heat. We have young kids so I know we'll be napping every afternoon.

Any other hints??

Anyone able to tell me how bad it really is???

I'm looking for the same answer. Considering taking a group of teens from my church next year during the same time frame.
Anybody care to share your experiences?

TIA!

It's hot... for us, each person brought a backpack with a refillable water bottle in it. You can refill them from any counter service resteraunt, just ask for "ice water" (free) or if you prefer to pay, "water".

Hit the rides during parades.
Take advantage of the evening hours.
Ride lines to not get shorter just because it's raining, but they do it there's a hurricane predicted. Hopefully there won't be any this year.
Oh, and plan to spend entire days at the water parks. :Pinkbounc

I've been the first weekend in August twice and while it has been pretty hot the crowds were manageable for us. Most of the rides outside of MK are airconditioned as are the restaurants so we would use our fast passes for the big ticket items rather than wait in the heat. We planned ahead and made our dining arrangements and kept an eye on early entry etc. I have been to WDW many times and while this time of year has been more crowded than most I would say that it was easier to get around than the year I went a week before Halloween

Now with EMH in effect you will have a wonderful opportunity to do things in the evening when it is a bit cooler - don't worry, you will have a BLAST!

I have gone the last 5 August's in a row. As it gets closer to the end of the month, it gets less crowded.

It will be hot and you will need to drink lots of water. It will most likely rain everyday between 1 and 5, for a short while, then clear up, and still be hot.

Lots of rides are airconditioned inside, it is the waiting outside that is hot. We use the fast pass a lot in August. We ususally get to the parks around 10 and stay all day. We see everything that way. SOmetimes we do have to pick and chose to skip something, but it is ususally something we really did not want to do anyhow.

Crowds will be heavy. Avoid MK on the weekends. THe nice thing is, when packing for a trip in AUgust, you don't have to worry about packing all different kinds of clothes for different weather. Shorts and tank tops, bathing suit and underwear. That's it. :cool1:
