We will be traveling around Europe in 2014 in August and September and am wondering which of these times will be the best time to visit. In regards to crowds, prices, weather and attractions would it be better to stay 23rd August to the 26th August coming from Berlin on our way to Barcelona or 20th to 23rd September 2014 at the end of our trip to Europe before going to London. There will be 4 of us 2 adults and 2 children aged 15 and 13. I know that this is a year away but as we coming all the way from Australia I need to start making some decisions. I am not sure yet wether we will stay on site or off site. Thanks for all your help.

September would be a lot quieter in terms of crowds, the schools go back after summer break at the beginning of September.

Keep in mind, the hours will be very short in September compared to August...8/8.30 compared to 11pm! If you've never been before, summer is great.
The crowds aren't as bad as people think either, this year we've been doing walk ons and RC Racer was only 15 mins towards the end of the Studios day (which possibly could shut at 6 for your September dates).
I'm back on Wednesday for nearly a week and then not again till October, but again the half term week sees late openings.
Weather wise its been HOT which has resulted in me wearing dresses and skirts *gee* and September is usually jeans and t's weather with colder evenings. Probably more manageable too.
Price wise August is more expensive, but the longer hours make up for it. Its doesn't worry me about school holidays because to be honest, its always full with kids out of school anyway. Even with fines being introduced here in the UK people are still taking their kids out. And then there are the school party trips anyway....
Hope this gives you a little bit more awareness of the differences :)

if you choose September you will be able to take direct train (Eurostar) from park to the centre of London

I think they meant that as they were going to London after if they did the Sept trip they could use direct Eurostar to get there.

Whereas in August they will be coming from Berlin and go to Barcelona after so would probably have to fly!

yeah, that what I meant, should have put more by was just checking forum during my lunch break...

less travelling at the end of this adventure plus cheaper if book in advance and more comfortable I think

I would say go for September. Personally I actually prefer the earlier closing times. We always try and do EMH and if closing time is at 8pm that's a full 12 hours in the park. I like to see Dreams as often as possible too and staying up to 10.30 or 11 can be hard work after a long day! If the park closes earlier you can always go and after dinner afterwards.
