Looking for itinerary feedback for our August trip. (I realize I can't really finalize things until official hours are posted. Nonetheless, the planning bug has bitten me!)
Background:
• 2 Grandparents (early 60s), 2 parents and an aunt (all mid 30s) and three boys (aged 5, 5, 7)
• WDW vets (each of us has between 5 and 12 trips under our belts)
• First time to DL. First time to west coast for 1 adult and all 3 kids.
• Tickets – we each have a 4-Day Hopper with one MM.
• Staying onsite so we can also utilize EE.
DL Priorities
• Stuff that DL has that WDW doesn’t (Carsland, Mr. Toad, GRR, Matterhorn, etc.)
• Night-time shows (especially WOC and Fireworks, Fantasmic if we can fit it in).
• We got the Hopper tickets mostly so we could use the GC Entrance and in case it got really busy in one park and we wanted to head to the other. We tend to be one park per day people as we’ll try almost any attraction / show once.
Here’s our tentative plan, suggestions welcome! (If we're being too ambitious, or a better sequence might work, please let me know.)
(FWIW, the full week we are there is the first week that SoCal and SoCal Select passholders regain weekday access to the parks.)
FRIDAY
• Arrive at LAX mid-afternoon, Disneyland Resort Express to DLH
• Explore resort, get in a quick swim
• Dinner at Trader Sam’s
• Early night after two long travel days. (We have an 11 hour drive to Buffalo from Northern Ontario, Canada to catch our flights. At 1/3 the airfare, it’s worth it.)
SATURDAY
• If up early, DL then hop to DCA, otherwise, DCA
• WoC Lunch Package at Cathay Circle
SUNDAY
• Character breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen
• Check out of DLH, check in to VGC.
• Helicopter tour of Hollywood (maybe, though seeming not likely).
• Enjoy the pools and other amenities at DLH and GC.
• Pirates’ Dinner Show (leaning towards Pirates)
MONDAY
• DL
• Fantasmic
TUESDAY
• Anaheim Tours – Beach Bus tour & Whale Watching (booked last night)
• Check out Downtown Disney
• Dinner at Tortilla Jo's
WEDNESDAY
• DL
• Late lunch at BTBBQ
THURSDAY
• DCA
• Most likely day would we hop back and forth to redo favourites one last time.

• Breakfast at Storytellers (maybe, not going to book in advance)
• Disneyland Resort Express to LAX
• Flight leaves mid-afternoon
