I talked to a very nice woman this morning from Walt Disney World Event Services, and she gave me a lot of good information about the August Event:
On each day of the event, 4 LE pins will be released. From park opening until either 1 or 2 pm (final time is yet to be determined), there will be forms available for each guest to fill out at World Showplace and Pin Central. Spaces are given for you to indicate which LE pin(s) you want to purchase. Only one form may be filled out per guest. You are not allowed to fill out forms for anyone else in your party. At 1 or 2 pm, the forms will all be taken to be entered into a computer system, and the computer system will randomly assign pins. Guests are to return (location for this is not yet finalized) at either 5 or 6 pm (final time is yet to be determined) to pick up their forms/vouchers. You have to be there to pick up your own voucher and make your own purchases; again, no member of your party can do this for you. The forms will state which pins you are able to purchase, if any. No guest is guaranteed any of the LE pins; it is the luck of the draw. You could get one or all four pins, or none at all. After you get the voucher, you are able to buy two of whatever pins you are allotted. I was told that there should be ample time given for each person to purchase their pins; immediate purchase (i.e. waiting in a long line to purchase them as soon as you get your form) may not be necessary. The time limit has not been decided for this yet. Any pins not picked up by the folks drawn for them initially will be sold to a standby waiting list of folks; their names will also be drawn in the random allottment. No pins will be sold to folks who were not signed up for the random assignment. If you do not fill out the form and sign up before the 1 or 2 pm cutoff time, you will not be able to purchase that day's LE pins.
The likely edition sizes of the LE pins is not yet known. They could be insanely small or hideously large, LOL. They don't have any idea of that yet.
The folks attending the breakfast DO NOT have the first shot at the weekend's LE pins. They only have their names automatically added to the random assignment list every day. They are not guaranteed any more pins than the people who are not attending the breakfast. They are handled in the same manner as everyone who is not attending. (although they do get free admission to the pin auction that will take place during the pin event) However, the folks attending the breakfast are given the first opportunity to purchase "special event pins," like press pins that were given out for the opening of attractions. None of these pins have ever been sold before. The first time that they are sold will be at the breakfast. None of these pins will be pins that have been auctioned off before or pins that will be sold at this year's auction. Pins left over that were not sold at the breakfast will be made available after the breakfast is over to the public (Thursday). (Small update: I didn't mention the Pooh pin when I wrote this initially, but yes, the breakfast attendees get the LE 1000 Pooh pin that is exclusive to the breakfast. Figured everybody knew that already, LOL.)
There will be some event merchandise available (breakfast attendees will have first shot at it). For now, there will be a lanyard, a pin bag, a hat, and probably a t-shirt and a polo shirt available for purchase that bear the event logo.
That's the news for now! Hope this has helped you.
