To those of you who go or have gone in August what is it really like? I am planning a trip for me, my DH and dd's 7 and 9 and I was just wondering what to expect. We are going the third week for 7 days. I know it is going to be hot but how hot does it get? Will my girls be way miserable? Just trying to gauge weather, crowds, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly the weather will be hot but not as hot as June. Many days will probably be more overcast which helps cool it down a bit, plus you definitely need to be prepared for rain as that is a rainy time of the year. The storms can sometimes last all afternoon not just an hr or so. It is bearable though. Just be prepared with ponchos and alternative "rainy day" plans if you planned a pool or water park day. You won't be able to do those outdoor activities during lightening storms.

Crowds that week you plan to go should be pretty manageable as this is off peak time and a good time to go. Schools in S. FL will be starting in early August this year. If you don't mind the rain and heat it is a good time to go.

As far as the heat goes, just take your time park touring and try to purchase some mister fans & ponchos if you want to save some $$ before your trip-also make sure to bring extra footwear if your shoes get soaked from the rain. A backpack with a pr of shorts & a shirt isn't a bad idea either.

I have been there 3 or 4 times in AUg and the last two times it was hotter in NJ than it was in Fl. We are also going the AUg but we are going in the 4th week. The crowds have always been pretty to get around. Yes you may have some wait time but not too much. I think it is one of the best times to go. Just bring your ponchos because it does rain a lot.

We went in August and honestly, the crowds weren't that bad. We got into any restaurant we wanted. We did fast pass on the usual popular rides but really the lines were tolerable. Yes it was hot, but that's what pools and waterparks are for.

The first time we went was June the second December and last year August. I can honestly say that August was my favorite time. It was hot but it was the high humidity that was the problem not the sun. We did have a couple of rainy days but not as much as we experience in June. We are going again this August because the crowds were the lowest we had ever seen. We go the last two weeks of August and we did not wait longer than 20 mins for any ride, most of them were walk on. Great time to go, but there is always a chance of a hurricane, we were very lucky last year as we landed 3 days after one and left the night before the next one, but it has'nt put us off. Hope you have a great time.

August is one of my favorite times to go. Due to the short lines you really aren't outside in the heat too much. I really don't find it to be too hot or humid during that time and you really don't mind the afternoon showers that much. The lessened crowds are the big draw for our family. We went in June one year and it was like a monsoon had decended upon us. It was horrible. November is a great time to go but with the kids being in school it isn't doable for us.

I love August. The crowds can very, and sometimes by a lot. The earlier you go, the more people. Once school is in session, it thins out drasticly.

We love going in August, especially since the kids are a litle older. We try to get up and hit the early morining day at the park and then clear out and back to the room by lunch time. We can eat, swin=m, nap or whatever and then return to the parks later in the evening and not be cold (like in spring months). It's great.

We've gone twice in late August and it has been very humid. This past August we there through Hurricane Frances which was an interesting experience. The lines were very managable. We would consider going again at that time but since we've had hurricane experiences two of the times we've visited we're probably leaning more towards a different time of year, most likely January or early February of next year.
