Can anyone with their reservations already made share their rates? How you got the rate (codes, coupons, etc)? For comparison purposes please include company you are using and where you are picking up (MCO or WDWCCC, etc). In the past, alert DISers really assisted me get the best rates possible and I'm hoping it will happen again. Thanks for sharing!

I hope you don't expect DISers to do all the leg work for you! My best advise is to go to Mousesavers and look at Rental Car codes: http://www.mousesavers.com/rentalcar.html .

I always find great rates using Mousesavers!

I intentionally left off my specific dates as to not appear to be looking for someone to do "all the work." I regularly re-check my dates with the companies I have used in the past.

I was merely wanting to start an information sharing thread...you remember those...the ones were nice people tell other nice people about cool experiences they've had or about deals they've found and are willing to share. If you thought I was out of line, why even bother replying to my thread?

If anyone wants to share please do, but know that I have done my research with my travel brochures from BJ's and Costco, the entertainment book in conjunction with Mary's info on Mousesavers.

If you have already done some research and you already have rates, then why don't you share your own rates? :listen: Since this is a sharing thread and all that ...

Using code from BJ's with online coupon I am getting $175 with National, EA. Vacationoutlet code I am getting $180 with Alamo, mid-size. I also played around with various Avis coupons and codes with nothing coming up for less than $200.

From past experience, I know it is early. However, I have been out of the loop for about a year, (since the end of my pregnancy and the first 9 months of my dear Prince's life). I truly am just interested in getting feedback so I can be sure I still have my superior Disney planning skills! :flower3:

Renting in August
Alamo - picking up at Airport
11 days - SUV - Drive out the door $280.00
Used a BJ code and $20.00 off coupon.
There was a thread here recently and someone used Costco that had a $25.00 off coupon.
The only concern I have about Alamo is a long line at the counter. You can't do on line check in and just go to the garage if you rent an SUV. You have to stop at the counter.

It is great to save some dollars. Good luck shopping around. :)

I got a rate of $129.XX from Alamo for 8/25-8/30, Chevy Equinox, using the vacationoutlet code and $15 off coupon.

I also have a National reservation for pickup at the Dolphin on 8/26, intermediate, Priceless code from mousesavers and free weekend day coupon from Entertainment book, $101.XX.

I want to take ME so we don't have to get our luggage, but the Alamo deal at the airport is really the better one. We have a 5:41 pm return flight, but I have to get the car from National at the Dolphin by 4:00 pm because that's when they close - worried we might not return to the airport by 4:00.

We're going 8/16-8/25 (10 days). I actually have 2 ressies now, cant decide which we are going to use.

Midsize SUV
Using Vacationoutlet code and EB $25 coupon, bottom line is $174

Convertible
Same code and coupon, bottom line is $204

When you go Alamo, try the ORLESS id code. It's been saving me the most money, especially on a Pres week rental from Sanford Airport.

What company are your ressies with? and where are you picking up?

Like I said, I know it is early. However, I need to get the ball rolling on our plans. Thanks for posting. I appreciate the info.

Sorry, I didnt even realize that I didnt list the company. I am using Alamo and picking up from MCO.

From checking recently, I know that the Midsize SUV is about $5 higher now, but the convertible rate is still the same.

Alamo, using Costco code and Entertainment book $20 off coupon, $152 for a week, STANDARD SUV. (mid SUV was $15 less). Dates Aug 20-27, 2006

August 4 to August 17 (13 days). Alamo Standard SUV - $348. I simply used the Wal Mart codes (10% off). I also used the early check in feature to avoid any lines. Could have saved a little more ($15) with the prepay feature, but figured why pay now?

For all you August Alamo renters, check your rates. My rates for 8/16-8/25 have dropped significantly. :cool1: :thumbsup2

Using Vacation Outlet code (698805) and EB $25 off coupon, my new out the door rates are:

Midsize SUV - $137.09
Convertible - $178.31

I am sure going to miss the EA. But not enought to pay the significantly higher rates. I will continue to monitor, though.

Thanks to everyone for sharing. After a bumpy start, I am so happy to see Disers willing to come here and share.

Hey, Mickey Maniac, isn't it going to be weird on Sunday watching SB XL without the Pats in it???!!! I'm about 7 miles from Gillete Stadium; DH is a season ticket holder. Sure hope the reason Mr. Brady won't be going to Hawaii is because of the Pro-Am golf tournament and not the rumored sports hernia! :cheer2:

PMom, I agree, it is going to be a little wierd. We're almost neighbors (DIS speaking...), I just over the border in RI. I wish I could get Season Tickets, but I just dont see any purpose in getting on a 10 year waiting list to end up sitting in the top row.

I do get to go to a few games though through some vendors I deal with at work. I was lucky (or was it unlucky) enough to get to attend the Monday night game against the hated Colts. Sat in one of the premium suites and I'll tell you, itwas indeed sweet!

Sorry, got Off Topic. Now back to your regularly scheduled August Car Rental Rates thread...

Now I found minivan on Alamo for August, same dates Aug 20-27, for base rate $197/week. Total is $232 with tax-- for $80 more than the Standard SUV. We will have to decide which to keep.......

Minivan rate came up with entertainment book code 7000440 and ent coupon DZ1B (most coupons no good on minivan, this one is ok)

I am still hoping National comes up close to this rate, I love Emerald, and picking my own car.

PatMcDuck,

Reading through the Alamo posts, I found a link to the Cosco site with great rates and a $25 coupon that I believe could be used for a minivan. There was a post that anyone could use this link and discount, you do not have to be a member of Costco. It saved me about $40 on my 5 day SUV rental.

If you search through the recent Alamo threads, it should be easy to find. I posted yesterday, so it shouldn't be buried.

Edited: The thread is about Alamo's minivan rates dropping

That is for 8/23-8/30. Using Amex code and BJ's $20 coupon. I'll keep checking: hoping for better as my dates get closer.
