We did Disney in August in 2000 and never go to see Fantasmic because of the massive line.

I was wondering if this was just because it was the Millenium .. anyone here been the last week of August .... is it still really crowded. I'll probably book the dinner but I hate the idea of doing that when you basically lose out if it rains. It makes it very difficult to plan. I would rather just go than plan the dinner.

Thanks.

we learned a valuable lesson in regard to Fantasmic.....it was our first time at disney & we left our hotel at 6:00 for an 8:30 show....standing room only on the bus with a stroller....yuck....then we barely were able to get into the arena, but somehow found seats.....then on the way out, we couldn't find our stroller in the mass exodus of people.....not a good way to start a vacation.....fantastic show, though.....that was the last week of August 2 years ago.....next time we do it, we will go more like mid afternoon, get some counter service dinner, & go sit in the arena early.....live & learn at disney.....

Personally, I think it was just the fact that you were there during the millenium celebration. Usually the last week of August isn't that packed, with all the kids going back to school.

Your rain scenario is just what happened to us the last week in August last year. We ate at Mama Melrose, then were doing a couple attractions before Fantasmic and it started pouring, thundering & lightning for the rest of the night. We missed out, and we only had 1 more night of our trip and that was the only night they were doing FITS, so we couldnt go back to MGM(it rained, thundered & lightning that night too) . Im hoping for less rain this year.
