So I just booked our ADRs for our trip August 14th through the 28th. Around 75 days to go and really really easy to get!!!!
DO you think this means August crowds will be lower this year?
Last year we were there for a few weeks in late July into early August and we had trouble getting reservations for Biergarten Rose and Crown Sci Fi and Skipper Cantina. Last year we had to check back multiple times, and even change our park days based on availability
I just made ADRs for Biergarten, Skipper Canteen, Rose and Crown, Garden Grill and Trails End and not only got my first choice of days, but also lots of good times to pick from!

I agree - we made our reservations earlier but we are changing around our days and were able to change many restaurants.

Yes, our August ADRs were easy to book, & I only booked them a few weeks ago.

The middle to the end of August is quieter than the end of July/early August. In a lot of states, children are already back in school by then, including Florida.

I felt the same about Labor Day weekend! We just booked a trip and were able to get everything we wanted (and even lucked out on BoG) and we were about 80 days out.

We are going the first week of August and I had wide-open availability - with ADR's AND Fastpasses. Fingers crossed it's quiet :)

As a former cast member & resident of Orlando, and as a current resident of Louisiana, I can tell you the number one reason for low crowds August.... IT'S MISERABLY HOT. Hotter than mid-summer. It's like being in a sauna with 20,000 other sweaty people next to you, only everyone is wearing clothes and people are dealing with crying kids. I'm not exaggerating- the humidity will literally take your breath away. I'm not saying don't do Disney in August, just make sure you hydrate like crazy, wear moisture wicking clothing, and bring a large umbrella. Not only will it protect you from the 30 minute daily showers, but it will also provide you with some shade when there is little to be found. If you do it right, it's worth the low crowds. Just prepare like crazy!

It's also VERY rainy too and late August starts peak hurricane season which doesn't necessarily mean hurricanes but could mean tropical development like depressions, waves, etc = heavy rains. Yes it is miserably humid but it also tends to be more overcast so just be prepared with extra water, rain ponchos, extra footwear and don't depend on too many "good" hair days...and you'll be fine!

In my opinion more likely to mean as restaurants quality is continuing to go down and people are not so interested.

We can only go in August, and the ADRs are easy to get every year.
The crowds are never bad. We don't mind the heat. People give August a bad rap. It's great. Hang by the pool and mid day breaks and you're fine.
Can't wait to move to FL and be able to go anytime of year but I'll take August and the heat and low crowds any day over the ridiculous crowds when I was just there in March over spring break

Agreed. This will be our 12th August in a row and we love it! We went twice over Christmas and while it is a great temperature and the parks are decorated beautifully, the crowds were huge! Heat and lower crowds are our preference too.

This will be our third end of August trip in a row and LOVE IT! The heat is real and pop up showers do occur but so worth the low crowds! I actually like the heat because all other times, I visit, I am always so cold, the air con, drives me crazy, to cold for me. August is the only time I enjoy it lol! We have changed ADR's several times and no problem getting everything we wanted.

As a 7 time visitor in August we have enjoyed Free Dining and reasonable crowds every time. On top of the hot and humid weather many U.S. states are back in school at the end of August and there is always the threat of hurricanes. The key is to move REALLY SLOWLY. As you say humidity is the killer. I used to think numbers over 100% were impossible but I am beginning to wonder.:)
