August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Joining in late -- we booked our very 1st Disney Cruise about 2 mo ago, just discovered this forum today. Plan to skim through for tips, suggestions, and experiences from previous cruisers.

Our family is

me 53
DH 53
DS 7

We're flying down to Orlando from Wash., DC (live in the VA 'burbs) on 8/29 a.m.

We'd like to know more about things for our son, but we're especially interested in things that the 2 of us can do while he spends most of the day at the club. Also, recommendations abt which days/nights are best to do what.

We're doing shore excursions on 2 of the stops, but don't have anything planned for Castaway.

We'll have dinner at Palo on Sunday night.

Lots of stuff was already booked, natch, but we know we'll have a great time doing anything else that's available.

Do you make reservations or just line up for the shows?

Hope to meet some of you while we're on board.

Thanks for the response. How do we find out our cabin #?

Sorry for the extra posting (#2061). Please feel free to delete -- I couldn't figure out how to -- just edit.

Anyone know where to buy Rum cakes at the ports we are visiting? A post on the main board gave me the biggest craving! I am buying more this trip.

If you log onto your reservation at disneycruiseline.com (you need your reservation number and the date of birth of the primary person on the reservation) you should be able to pull up your information, including your cabin number. If it says GTY then it will be assigned at some point before you get to the terminal; otherwise, you will see the actual cabin number - the first number tells you the deck number.

Don't worry about the double posting!:goodvibes

Lark - We live in DC, not too far from you. We're flying from Balto though.

JrZoeLeahMom - We are using Happy Limo too and used them in the past as well as just last week and had a great experience each time. We've also used Tiffany and like them as well, it was just that Happy Limo was mildly cheaper for the WDW-Port-Airport-WDW routes we've been doing recently (sharing the van with another family, hence going to the airport then WDW).

Hard core packing! I think the end is near. 4 bags D.O.N.E. 1 more to go.

To celebrate I propose a toast to the great state of New York. I raise my Long Island Iced Tea! Bottoms Up!

Cue the crisis music! Breaking News!

Bill is a Major Hurricane. Category 3.

Want to see the black cloud over my head??? (Yes, I'm cursed when it comes to flying). We won't be able to fly out Sunday morning. Winds expected to be 100 mph off the coast.

Only me.:headache:

i wouldn't worry about it, they'll just take a more western approach. You'll get in......

Gosh, I hope you're right.:goodvibes

The problem is, Albany Int'l Airport (what a joke) doesn't store equipment overnight. In plain english, planes can't park there. They have to be flown in each morning because the place is too small. Our plane comes from the SWA hub in BWI. My buddy does p.r. for the airport, lucky for me he'll call me the night before with an update.

UGH!!! I just want to get out of New York!! I've been looking forward to this vacation for 11 months. Give a girl a break we've had a tough year. :)

Your flight might be late, due to them having to fly westerly, but you'll get out. The only thing that would cause you a problem is that it changes course and hits BWI.

Gottolovedisney, thanks for the email, DD Kaitlyn is really shy when she first meets someone but I know she would like to get to know some kids before the cruise. :)

Haven't posted enough to PM yet, so wanted to request 3 bracelets: 2 adult, 1 child.

When/how do we pay for them?

Thanks!

Haven't posted enough to PM, but we'd like to be on your DIS board list (understand that the FE/FFE list is closed).

Annandale Threesome - Cabin #2633
Ron & Lallie, DS Hal 7

Hi Cigy7, we would like to order bracelets but I guess I don't have enough post to PM you.
We are Suzanne & Dan & DD Kaitlyn 8 in #6090. Please let me know what I need to do to order. FYI, the bracelet looks great! thumbsup2

just finished a marathon day of shopping -- now to fit it all into the suitcases

Hey, justhat:

We'll be in cabin 2633, if you'd like to stop by while you're on board.

So it looks like Bill will be far enough out to sea and/or north not to affect our cruise. There is nothing BEHIND Bill yet to worry about, right??? It looks good to me, hoping I am right ;)

I am just hoping to get out tomorrow. 70% chance of thunderstorms here in MI and 60% in FL.
