August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

:fish::fish::fish::fish::fish:

We have had one addition to our list, nycemschic. She was on the fence about joining, borrowed a FE from someone, and has now decided to join us. She will be listed in green on the list since she is past our cutoff. Since she is so close to the cutoff date, if you have enough or haven't started your fe's yet, please try to make a delivery to their cabin. :flower3:

I am making extras and have no problem delivering to their cabin :flower3:

Hey everyone.

This cruise is the 1st time we used our DVC points and I gotta tell ya, we are sooo happy! When we booked back in April, we asked for a sideways category 11, but there were none available. We were told to call after 5/31 when some people may cancel their ressies. Well... i just got off the phone with them. Sure enough, there were 2 sideways rooms left... We got in!

(For anyone who's interested, 6521 is still available!)

One one of our other cruises we did a "tour" of the ship- one family from each category had an "open house" at a specific time where we could sneak a peek at what the diff rooms looked like. We loved the layout (and the subsequent price) of these rooms. (we had a verandah last time and really, for us, it was just not worth it)...

I'm not sure why I'm sharing all this with u guys.. other than I am totally stoked about this cruise!

Congratulations on getting your room :thumbsup2

My hosue is empty and quiet right now while I'm studying for an exam next week. Just needed a break. Since this is my first cruise I'm going to be asking some of the pros questions about excersions soon (you have been warned!) I'm using our cruise theme "Mickey's So Long Summer" for one of my Fe gifts and just wanted to say how clever it is to whoever came up with it. Good job!

Thanks for keeping the FE list updated Sharon. :thumbsup2
We always bring extras, so no worries on a few late additions.

Welcome nycemschic!

We did a stateroom tour one cruise too, and I really liked the layout of the sideways cat 11 cabin. Congrats on snagging one.

So I was trolling the DCL site yesterday (secretly hoping to get our cabin assignment, although I know it's still early) and it appears there may have been a few cancellations when the final payment date rolled around.

When I played with dummy bookings a couple of months ago, cat 4 was the only thing available if I put 4 people in a room.
I did the same thing yesterday, and cat 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 all popped up; gty status of course, but available.
Maybe the kids clubs won't all be at maximum capacity after all. ;)

We cruised in November last time and the ship was not too crowded, except the pools of course. Hopefully it wont be too bad. My kids actually start school that week we are going. Mon 1/2 day, full days Tue, Wed, Thurs, then off Friday. They don't do all that much the first week, so I'd rather pull them then and know they wont have any tests to make up! All the schools in DE start then, not that our little state makes much of a difference in the crowds on the ship! :rotfl:

I'm not shy. The theme was my suggestion. I write catchy things for a living.

I love the theme!! It's incorporated into my FE gifts too.

Now, I just need to get my actual FE made. Fabric has been purchased, but it's still in the bag. LOL!

:confused3

Been working on ideas for my FE gifts all afternoon. I really shouldn't be since I have ton and tons of laundry to fold! lol. I have narrowed it down to 2 ideas, nothing too exciting, but I do need to get moving on it. Also have to go shopping for FE fabric this week. How much do you think I should buy for the back? We are a family of 5. We are getting close!!!

Oh and I wanted to mention that our family name is thegoofy5 but I can not figure out a way to change my dis name. But that is what will be all over our door on the cruise.

I've got mine all packed up and labled, with a couple of extras, just in case. I just finished putting together the bags this weekend. I think I will ship them ahead, so there will be less to bring with us.

I feel like such a slacker. I can't wait to see all the cool FE's. We will have something, but DH and I can't agree on what it should be :confused3 Hoping we decide soon so we make sure we have it in time.

I have the FE gifts but it’s the fish extender I am worried about:scared1: I don’t know what to do. I am not very crafty---I am not sure I can pull off making my own Fish Extender. I think I will just have to give in and order one from EBay. I know it’s not the same as making our own but it will make my life easier:love:.

Wow that’s great :worship: I wish I was that organized.
Shipping them ahead of time sounds like a great idea that avoids having to pack them into the luggage ---that is if I can actually get myself to put everthing together with enough time :rotfl2:
Can you tell me more about how you plan on shipping them? Are you sending them to the ship?

I bought mine off ebay, and don't feel bad. I don't have a crafty bone in my body.....

This is straight from the FAQ section on the Forum page. We did this last time and our FE stuff was in our room before 1:30. Just make sure you follow the directions, packing slip on the outside, and don't mail it earlier than 2 weeks prior. DH gets a discount with FEDEX so that is how we shipped last time with no problems. You are allowed 1 box per cabin that you can ship ahead.

Boxes Sent the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009

• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.

• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.

• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.

• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.

• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:

Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)

• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).

• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).

• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding.

These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

I got mine off ebay last year, and ordered my stepson a more generic one recently that came all the way from England, which was still reasonable even coming from there. Don't know if or when he will cruise again, they will be having their first child around Christmas time, so I didn't want to spend a lot on theirs. Alma, on ebay you can search for Fish Extender which are the nicer hand made, more customized ones, but also do a search for Mickey pocket storage, or Mickey storage, can't remember which I did to find the more generic ones, they are yellow, green, or blue, with pictures of Mickey on them. Depends what you want.

Thanks! Lots of good information :thumbsup2
I am leaning towards ordering mine from EBay but I really wanted it customized it---sounds like it's possible to have it done :woohoo:
I think I will be doing some shopping today :)

Since my DMIL will be in one of our connecting cabins does anyone know how to separate her charging privileges so that my 2 DD's will be on our account and not her's:confused3

It would be easy if I weren't giving the girls charging privileges:scared1:

I just want to do it right before I print out the authorization page before we leave:thumbsup2
