August 24th 2012 Cruise to the Bahamas!!!!

Anyone else notice that the DCL website now says that Pirate Night is on day 3 / Nassau?

I went by previous navigators and it has always been Nassau day - so IF we are right than we will drop Palo and stick with Remy! :thumbsup2

Oh, and to answer your question - yes I did notice it and I am pretty happy they seem to have corrected their mistake. ;)

Our friends did this itinerary last summer it Pirate night was definitely on Nassau day.

You know???? I guess I'm just an "equal rights liberal lefty" or something... but I'm just amazed at how unfair the reservations are for the Cabanas!!!!

If your not a CC member... there's like no way your ever going to get a Cabana!

I actually noticed a similar trend with Palo reservations... By the time I was done... 7 PM reservations were gone (I think I took the last one actually) for the first night....

In that case, I guess it's just a matter of "Those who know what they are doing... win".

But... I just felt like... Why bother even listing the Cabanas on the excursions page once they are all gone? That's just a tease.

LOL

Where the heck is everyone? I see a total of like 4 - 5 people posting on this thread. I guess I'm just an internet blabbermouth.

"Try a different browser ..... Disney sometimes has issues with IE. "

Ya... I rarely use IE, about the only time I subject myself to IE torture is for work. I was on a Firefox...then I popped over to Safari to see that made a difference... Negative. I think we just jumped the gun.
I agree that they should not even list them after they are gone. I think when Disney originally planned the cabana's they were only going to be for conceige(sp?) guest.
This is the quietest cruise thread EVER!!
I know what you mean...and in general, I'm about as far from an "equal rights liberal lefty" as can be.

It's kinda the same thing with WDW. The difference being with DCL, you at least had to have given them some money in the past. With WDW, it pretty much just requires a lot of research. I despise the whole 180-day thing for ADRs, but those are the rules. How many first-timers get screwed with their dining becasue of that?

:confused3

Out of curiousity once, I checked the meet thread for the Magic cruise out NYC leaving one day after our cruise (8/25) that we considered instead of this cruise. It's such an active thread compared to ours, plus I think they may have their own Facebook group as well. I guess there just aren't that many DISers on our cruise. Athough, there have been some people that have popped in here and posted once that they would be on the cruise and...(cue creepy music)...have never been heard from again.
Disney dinning makes me NUTS. When I first moved to Florida 9 years ago we could run over to Disney for dinner and eat almost anyplace we wanted. Now that they have the dinning plan we never eat there anymore. The prices have gone way to high for what you get!!
"cue the creepy music". LOL, love it!!! I have not been on here much myself, had surgery on my left hand on May 11th, still in a cast. Hope everyone's family members are having speedy recoveries. My group from New York is At 42 people, but I am the only one on here.
Was hoping my TA could get our dining rotation ahead of time so we could pick a nite for PALO but no go, so he is going to see what he can still get for us, probably 18 of us.

Like I said, I have not been on here much, so can someone point me to a page if a meet has already been set up? I will try to get as many of my gang to come as possible!!!

Thanks!!

I hope your hand mends quickly!! We have not set up any cruise meet yet!!

I have a crazy few weeks coming up so I might be MIA for a while. My DD, Angelina , is having surgery on her sinuses Monday. Recovery is always really hard on her . Then next Friday my sisters will be coming to Disney . I am staying at Fort Wilderness Campground for two weeks(if Angie is up to it).We have a Travel Trailer so it is not really ruffing it. My DH will have to go to work the first week and Angelina had two Doctor appointments but I will still be at my happy place:love:

.... The shopping has begun!

DW started doing some "light shopping" for the cruise... so I guess its official... we're going on a cruise!

Magic is in NYC today... our friends are doing the cruise to nowhere leaving today. Bon Voyage!

Hope the surgery goes well. I've heard the recovery from sinus surgery can be tough.

Shopping hasn't begun yet...but I'm sure it will very soon.

I've just pretty much completed the final pieces of our post-cruise plans - which are 3 nights at the Renaissance Orlando @ Seaworld. That's been booked for a while now (I know it probably sounds terrible, but I can't do only 3 nights at WDW. That would just be a tease). But we just booked the rental car (finally found a good rate), and made a dinner reservation/ADR at T-Rex in DTD for the day we return from the cruise. :cool1:

Michelle, I really hope Angelina's surgery will go well. Going to send lots of healing Pixie dust for her!
:woohoo: for a few days at Fort Wilderness. What a wonderful place to be. We have friends who always stay there in a trailer home and it is just so fun to visit them.
Enjoy your time with your family! :goodvibes

I have been doing some vacation shopping too! We travel for 4 weeks so whenever I see something that we want/need to take I pick it up right away. ;)

70 days until our cruise will set sail, I cannot wait!!!!!

LOL I have been shopping for this cruise since last year!! I was lucky enough to hit a great sale after easter and bought my DD a new dress for very night!!
DS got some new shirts last night. I am waiting for me becuase I am still positive that I will loose more weight!!

ugh... I've been trying to get in better shape for the cruise too... My running was getting "effortless" again... and I was on my way...

Hit a bit of a snag in the road this week... woke up Monday morning with a fever and I've just been knocked for a loop all week so I've not been able to get to the gym this week.

I'm easy as far as clothing... a couple pairs of non-iron slacks... some "charlie sheen" style shirts... shorts... I'm done. (No.. sorry... I'm not doing the dress up jacket thing).

Just watched the Magic go by (and the Carnival Miracle right before her). The Magic looked small compared to today's newer ships.

There's just no end/resolution to this, is there? People have been reporting that on the most recent 5-nighters, that pirate night was on the sea day- and also that they have been staying in port in Nassau until 2am.

Well, this IS a Disney cruise, they just love to include a few twists and turns. :rotfl2:
I actually have heard all kinds of scenarios, so I am sticking with my two reservations for Nassau/Remy and day at sea/Palo and will just try to change accordingly when we finally know during the cruise.
I just hope we won't be stuck in Nassau until 2am! :scared1: Not the most exciting harbour to spend so much time in.

If we didn't have kids, I wouldn't mind this as it would leave lots of time to go to Atlantis and hit the casino. Although, the thought of getting a taxi back to the ship after midnight can be a little scary :scared1: .

I'm thinking they wouldn't do this if pirate night is indeed Nassau day. I don't think they want to give passengers on other ships a free fireworks show.

I know, travelling with kids is a whole different story.
We have cruised on the DREAM 4 times by now (3 back to backs last summer and another cruise in February) and our only concern is that our least favourite menu is the pirate one, so we "need" to escape to one of the adult only restaurants. ;)

They will not do pirate night on Nassau day, if they stay in the harbour until 2am.
It is kind of a running gag for us to find out how many other cruise ships are "accidentially" parked close to the Disney ships during fireworks. :rotfl2:

Up to my eyeballs in Foreign Currency translation methods this morning....

2 months till we leave for BLT! We've already got our drink orders in ... they shall be waiting for us as we arrive at the pool... (our friends are arriving the night before).

Hello!

We are also joining this cruise. We are Steve, Katrina, DD Issy (7) and DS Sam (4). This is our first Dream cruise, we sailed on the Wonder in 2010, Karin and Tom were on that cruise as well I would say small world but actually looks like any cruise in August is likely to meet you! Just had a look at your trip reports which are amazing.

Sam wasn't old enough for the club last time and is going to love getting stuck in.

We are from the UK based in the south of England near Portsmouth. Also DVC members we are staying at AVL before and after the cruise.

A double dip at Castaway Cay was what sold it for us, as well as the kids club on the Dream.

Here is the video from our 2010 trip, Sam loved waving to the people as they went up and down the glass elevators, one of the highlights of the trip! go figure. Also the fireworks at the end were shot from the viewing platform from BLT which was awesome
