August 24, 2014 Dream DVC Member Cruise

What a cruise! They weren't kidding when they suggested bringing an extra bag to get home of the stuff left in the cabin! Wishing I was still on vacation!

Yes!! We had so much fun on this member cruise that we decided to book the next one while on board. Wish we could do the Alaska one, but the kiddos are in school. See there them!

Great that we are on the same cruise!:thumbsup2

Just wanted to say thanks to all who was in my candy and FE exchange. My husband is enjoying the candy! My first Disney cruise was amazing. Can't wait for the next one.

I really enjoyed the idea of going to the cabin and seeing the surprises. We had all sorts of candy....I can mention off hand, lemon stick straws from a store in NJ very tasty!....James' salt water taffy from NJ....Taffy from Ohio....Smarties from NJ....Great berry candy from Idaho as well as chocolate Idaho Potato shaped candies...Ghirardeli candy from California....sponge candy that was invented in NY state, some Big Apple themed candy from NYC, an ice cream topping kit I forget from where.

There was more. We each got a Kristoff bookmark....Tic Tack candy, orange labeled as Olaf's noses...so cute.

Thank you all for participating, and I hope you had as much fun as Cheryl and I did!

See some of you next year!!!!!

My husband and I had a great time. We've been members of DVC since 1995, and enjoyed talking to other owners about their resorts and comparing notes. Also, some people we spoke to have been to Aulani or traveled with Adventures by Disney, and we enjoyed hearing about that also. The gifts were nice - I hung up the reserved DVC parking sign in my garage, that was my favorite. There was so much to do on board I didn't get to do everything that I would have liked to. Certainly, I was never bored. Castaway Cay was terrific as always and I enjoyed my beachside cabana massage at Serenity Bay. We weren't able to get a Palo brunch reservation but it really didn't matter, as we had a great time on the cruise. After the cruise, we spent two nights at Bay Lake Tower, now we are home doing laundry.

Thanks to all that were in my FE gift exchange! We had so much fun seeing all the wonderful gifts when we came back to our room!

Castaway Cay was my highlight. I could have stayed in the water all day! The children enjoyed meeting Swampy and Dan (the creators of Phineas and Ferb).

I have a question about cruise photos! Maybe someone can help?? I purchased a package of 10 digital images. The lady behind the counter said that I didn't have to chose any images there, that I would receive an email with a link to do it online. I haven't received anything yet. Anyone else?

Just got home and the first thing I'm working on is going through the candy!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks for coordinating the CE & thanks to all for the very tasty treats!!!

I'm trying to find out where Robin, Liz and Cody got the Disney socks we received in our FE. They were awesome!

My son-in-law loved them and would like to get his some more for Christmas. He wore them 3 times on the cruise!

Thanks

Thank you for all of the wonderful FE gifts. I'm amazed by the creativity of my fellow DVC members. Where do you guys get the ideas???

Hello everyone,
I know it's been a few days since our magical cruise ended, but believe it or not tonight I am really having time to go over everything and put it away. Thanks again for the wonderful and memorable gifts from everyone. Honestly it's kind of nice to go over everything again and revive the nice moment when we went back to out cabin and got the gifts. Thanks again and hope everyone is doing well.
P.S. Good luck to those who started school again, here in the Ortega household we are fully back to all our activities

Just filled out the DVC survey on the cruise. I was happy to give feedback. I loved, loved 95% of the cruise!

My Member's parking sign is proudly hanging in Cape May NJ!

Looks awesome!! Mine is still sitting on my dinning room table with other stuff that I still haven't put away. I'm still in denial. LOL

Sadly our 4 parking signs are sitting on a shelf in our garage! Really have no use for these signs to be honest.

Wore my hat over the weekend though!! :cool2:

For those that attended, do you think that it will continue to be the last 2 weeks of August in the future?

Was "hurricane season" a factor in your contemplation to book?
We cruised the Dream mid August, '2011 and had GREAT weather, but friends booked other cruiselines the last week of August and that year the weather was HORRIBLE AND HURRICANE ACTIVITY!

The "idea" of double dip CC and Members cruise is appealing, but "cautious" about cruising so late in August! I know, no guarantees of anything....:)

Were there A LOT of kids still with their families traveling? Southern schools are back by then, but northern schools are not....

Just curious...Thanks for any insight! I am sure that it is a lot of fun and NICE chatting with other Members!:thumbsup2

Prior to this year, they used to be around mid September. There's no guarantee DVC will keep with the August dates or go back to September.

Nope.

I would assume that there is no guarantee of when the cruise will be scheduled, but I'm thinking generally they will be during "off peak" times for DCL - like hurricane season. We also cruised back in mid-August 2011 and that was rescheduled from August 2009 when the trip we would have been on was changed from an eastern to a western itinerary based on tropical weather. I would just say that if booking a cruise during hurricane season that one needs to be flexible and expect the unexpected! :lmao:

In comparison to other cruises I would say there were less kids, but the only way I was actually able to gauge that was the smaller crowds on the family beach. Many of the trip reports posted on the FB page talked about big crowds at Serenity Bay, too.
