We just moved a dummy booking today to this cruise :cool1:

I am not here as often as I would like to be, so I did wonder if I was the best person to start this thread, but then I decided to throw caution and the wind to get it going pixiedust:

Cruising will be me, my husband and our girls who will be ten at the time of this cruise.

And a quick aside, we booked this cruise after our TA contacted us to let us know that there had been a pricing glitch on opening day and this particular cruise was priced too high. So if you booked around opening day, make sure that your fare shows the drop in price :cheer2:

Awesome! We booked opening day & chose the end of June because August wasn't showing any cheaper, but I checked today & low & behold it was $2500 cheaper in a Cat. 7A! My son may miss the 1st 2 days of his senior year (not sure of the calendar yet) but he's okay with that. :cool1:

It will be me, DH, DD (20) & DS (17)

Thanks for starting the thread Kirbo!

Diane :wave2:

Glad you rechecked the price. I never did see just how high they were.

My girls may be missing a few days of their first day of middle school. Honestly, that makes me nervous, but I think it will be fine :goodvibes.

It should be fine, I don't think they get a lot done the first couple of days. I honestly don't think the teachers are really ready to get going until after Labor Day anyway. ;)

That's my hope. This past year we started on August 26th, but it didn't seem anything important happened until a week or two later. I guess my main concern is really that it will be a new school (middle school), but it will be all the same students that they already know, so the social aspect of it should be fine.

Hi all two of you so far :)

Just moved to this day after we found out about the pricing glitch. We did this cruise Aug 25, 2012 and it was the best one yet of our 6 cruises! I was hoping to repeat it but didn't think we were at first. Hard for me to justify a big price increase to do the same thing again, even if we loved it.

There is a chance we won't be able to follow though if I can't get that week off which I won't know for sure until sometime in June but for now, this is the plan!

I hope you can get it off!

We've only ever been on the Wonder, both MR, and have two upcoming trips on the Magic planned. This will be our first cruise out of PC on one of the new boats. We're really looking forward to it.

You are gonna love it!

We have been on all 4. Our first 2 were on the Wonder. I love the concierge set up on the newer ships. Being foodies, Remy is a hit for us. Aquaduck is a lot of fun. Like the 'updated' main dining rooms too - Animators is so 21st century now and on old ships feels ... well ... old.

We did Magic for a Western caribbean and had plans to sail 8 night out of NYC and Med this summer on her but changed our minds.

After 6 DCL cruises, we are taking a break in 2013 and doing NCL pride of america hawaii cruise this april, then the new breakaway to bermuda out of NYC in july - should be fun.

We're almost two years out, and yet I was just talking to DH last night about Palo and Remy! We don't want to miss our regular dinners so we're going to try for brunch at both.

I look forward to hearing about your Hawaiian cruise with NCL. Are you doing their version of concierge for it?

On the 7 night cruise we had AERAERA for a rotation. The first and last time you dine in AP there is a "show' on the screens, first crush talk then the animation show. With the rotation i mentioned you get a 3rd night there on pirate night and all the screens in the room showed various pirate stuff, helped the mood (bonus). You will get at least 2 shots at each MDR so dont worry about missing it for Remy/Palo.

you just dont want to miss the 'shows' in AP in my opinion. If you have enough time to dine Remy dinner, do it. The Lunch there was good too and a nice alternative but dinner better- more choices.

The opposite is true of Palo. I think brunch is better with more choices than dinner. There is plenty of time - we'll talk ... I'm an expert :goodvibes

:goodvibes

I'm already getting excited :rotfl:

That's really good to know about the twice in each restaurant. I hadn't thought of that. Maybe closer to the date I'll ask my TA to request a rotation that works for dinner at Remy.

We loved dinner at Palo on the Wonder, but we agree, the brunch was even better. I am very curious to try Remy but figure we may not get reservations as we'll still be silver when we sail (it will be our fifth cruise, so we'll be gold after that). I'm sure I'll be hitting you up for more advice over the next 621 days :lmao:

only 619 days

Ha is that all? :hyper:

Looks like both you & Kirbo are seasoned cruisers! We are still silver but will finally make gold after this next cruise. So far, we've been on the Magic 3X including the 15nt PC cruise in 2008.

Last year we did the Fantasy for the first time & my family fell in love with it! We had the best wait staff ever & we are hoping to get the same server by request (if he's still on board).

We've eaten at Palo a couple of times but not Remy. DH is not much of an adventurous eater so not sure how much he would care for it. DD will be 20 when we cruise next, so we will most likely do a brunch with her. If we do get the same server, we'd hate to miss dinner.

Looking forward to meeting both posters so far & hopefully others! ;)

My family and I are not seasoned cruisers. You've been on more than have we. We've only done the two MR cruises, one this year and one last year, and in 2013 we'll do two B2B, the TA and the first Med. The Fantasy in 2014 will be our fifth cruise, so we'll still be silver at that time :thumbsup2. But FJS looks to be quite seasoned!

Looking forward to meeting you as well. I hope you get the server that you want :goodvibes

Not THAT seasoned. We have done 6 cruises (all DCL) so far. It started in 09 with 3 night Wonder cruise to try it out. We followed with a Wonder 5 night double dip a year or so later. Jumped on the sixth sailing of of the Dream in march 2011, did a Magic western that April then back on Dream for another 5 night double dip. (Big year)

This past summer we did the Fantasy eastern ... Thats six

2013 taking a break from DCL but still doing two cruises (Hawaii and Bermuda)

Well nobody is a newbie anyway...LOL. :goodvibes

We have been on NCL & RCCL as well a couple of times, but really we usually have at least 2 years between cruises if not more since we go to WDW a lot, so I don't feel like we cruise very much. My dream is to sometime retire to Florida & go on lots of 3 or 4 days cruises & WDW every other month. Some day....

Keep us posted on how the non-Disney cruises go. I'm really curious to hear about them!

That sounds like a :thumbsup2 plan!

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :cool1:

Have a great cruise!
