August 22 2010 - WONDER

Just got the FE list and thanks again! It's getting so close!

We leave for the States on the 3rd and I have so much to do - my boss retires this week so I have a lot to organise and leave running while we are away.

So if I don't post much in the next few weeks, it's not that I don't want to, and I will see you all at the meet! DH loves Home Depot so hopefully we'll get the chance to drop in and get some mickey heads for the door before we sail. :dance3:

Hi everyone! I just found out about this group thru facebook... I'm a single mom; this will be our first cruise ever!! My son will be 14 next Saturday & he's into the "everything is embarrassing" stage... so I'm hoping he will meet other teenagers & "not be embarrassed" lol ~ I briefly read some of the replies to this thread & saw there will be a meet @3pm... I'm hoping some of you have teenagers :) We are also traveling with my mom & we'll be in room 6076.

My 13 year old daughter can be embarrassed with your son. Anything I say or do is embarrassing to her. lol

See you in the lounge.

omayra96,

My son Ben is 13 so yours won't be alone. We are on the cruise right before this one so my son will know his way around pretty well.

Welcome!

Ok that's great!! I feel a little relieved cause he "says" I'm taking him against his will!

Pixiedustdawn ~ lol that's great ~ I guess they'll be sharing how WE "embarrass" them all the time! lol

doombuqqy ~ lol, how long does that "stage" last?!!

cyndisun ~ that's great!!

thank you!! Can't wait!! :cool1:

Hi everyone......we spent a week at the Jersey shore last week. Temperatures were above 100 for the first two days but cooled off a lot after. The ocean water was freezing....looking forward to warm Caribbean waters on our cruise.

Skelly_wi....thanks for organizing the FE list. I bought all my stuff and now I need to organize it.

Welcome to the new families......my kids are 15 & 14 and are extremely social. This is cruise #10 for us so they are very comfortable on the ship.

Question for you guys.....we are staying at the Yacht Club prior to our cruise and will be taking a car service to the port. How long does it take to go from WDW to the Port? What's a good time to have the car service pick us up?

Ski-and-Sea,

We'll be at the YC before our first cruise (8/12-8/17).

We usually allow an hour to get there when taking a car service.

Cyndi

I was playing around on expedia and it looks like our cruise is sold out. No cabins available. This is my 1st cruise so I don't know how this will impact things but I thought I'd post it.

Thanks for the advice....

Yeah, this doesn't surprise me. With the Magic away, people will get their DCL fix with the Wonder. Every Wonder cruise I've been on has been sold out.

Yet somehow the ship never feels "full". That's the great thing about DCL.

Thats good to hear!!

omayra96....I don't remember it lasting very long, also my son was made to go "against his will" :rotfl2:twice and loved it both times. He is like my husband he loves the cruises he just likes to give me a hard time. I wish my parents "made" me go on Disney cruises:rotfl: I got my FE 2 days ago and it is sooooo cute, We decided to leave a day early and stay at the Radisson the night before, anyone else?

We're coming in a day early too. At the residence inn the night before, but we'll be leaving from the park, so they'll be exhausted, I'm sure ....

Nice thing about staying the night before is that we leave the car at the hotel while we're on the boat, and don't have to pay for terminal parking ...

We leave in a week ... the kids are "helping" me pack ... and then I repack it all with the right stuff the day before we leave. My two year old can't wait to meet Mickey "for real", and the older boys are right with her. She wants him to sign her mickey doll ... wonder if they'll do that?

Oh well .... off to start a real "gotta take this with us" list ...

Wow, this cruise is coming up fast. But I am sooooo looking forward to it. Two weeks ago we spent a week at the Jersey shore. Love being on the beach but when you rent a house, its really no different than being at home.

I always say, its not really a vacation if you have to unload the dishwasher every day.

Whereas with a cruise - you don't have to do a thing!!!!:woohoo:

Yep a cruise is a true vacation to me, I always feel relaxed ( and sad:sad2:) when we get off. I took an extra day off (sat) so we could be down there and relax before getting on the ship instead of leaving at 4am from home:scared1: to get on the ship. Besides we would have to pay $60 to park at the port so we will spend an extra $20 to be well rested:yay:. I am so excited:yay: it has been 5 years since our last cruise.

We will be on the Disney Wonder August 22-25, 2010. I am Steve, first time Disney cruiser. My wife and ten-year old son will be with me. They have cruised DCL once before, November 2007. When they got back they said I had to experience DCL for myself. LOL I said, sure, so here we are (soon).

We are hoping to meet and chat with fellow DCLers, particulary if you have similarly aged children for our son to hang out with.

We will attend the 3pm meeting at the Promonade deck lounge.

We are also looking for DCLers who might want to share a room at the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island. We understand four people can sign up for a room there to get passes to use the facilities at the Atlantis. Since there are three of us, we could take one more of a familty of five who would then get a second room. Or a single person. This would lower the cost for all!

Have any of you former DCLers experienced the Atlantis Aquaventure and what did you think?
