August 2021 Car rentals

Just was able to get another rental at MCO for $536 8 days full size car. Went through priceline with AAA discount and renting through Hertz

The recommendation to use autoslash was spot on. I'm officially within $8 of the res at CCC. 8 days with a premium car for 462 MCO pickup with Avis. See if it drops anymore but between now an end of month but not taking the DME is music to my ears.

Saved $50 on my rental today. I love Autoslash! Switched to Hertz. Hopefully I don't have any issue (rented through Priceline). I've used Hertz before and everything was fine.

Mine went down $40 yesterday. Second the vote on autoslash!

The Dollar City Special for a Midsize in Orlando was down $30 for my trip when I checked today from when I booked last week. As an added bonus Rakuten notified me they're at 6% back right now for cash back with Dollar, rather than the 3% I saw when I booked the previous reservation. Price is still higher than I'd like, but definitely a move in the right direction. I'm a Dollar Express member so I don't have to worry about their excessive lines. I joined years ago after being stuck in one of their long lines for over an hour. Still hoping prices will drop more but more content with the price than I was.

Another thumbs up for Autoslash. My rate went down $47 yesterday morning and another $27 just now.

I missed a decrease in my car. When autoslash sends you a lower price announcement you need to jump on it (I didn't see the email until this morning). Hopefully it drops again.

I didn't book flights or rental car yet and still kinda hopeful for August. So far I am priced out for booking anything within my budget. I hope I see some price drops so I can still go in August.....

If anyone is still checking prices for their August car rentals, keep checking! We're leaving today, and I have cancelled and rebooked probably every single day for the past week. Prices are dropping quickly! I started pricing this trip back in late May/early June, and price has come down from 740 to 320 overall.
Costco, 10 day, full size. Keep re-pricing everyone, good luck!

That’s awesome as still still at full size for 416 for a week, leaving in 10 days. Costco and free upgrade code

Does it require a membership to book?

Leaving in 9 days, got price down to 379.33 for a standard size for a week. Yay!

I will keep checking, cancelling and booking lower. Keep those lower and lower rates coming!

Used free upgrade coupon and Costco code.

Also got my September 2 weeks down even more than the August one. Coupon not able to use, but with Costco discount, still a good price drop for a standard. Will be a cancel and booking lower if I see that reservation go down even lower. And hoping to see it even much lower.

Yay for all those seeing a lower price for this month.

I leave tomorrow for a 6 day trip. It's a solo trip so I've been changing anytime I found a better price for anything midsize or larger. Yesterday I got a midsize with Dollar for $249. Better even than the deal I had had with that infamous Hertz code!

I currently have a compact suv with dollar for $312. I’m going solo also and leave in 2 week, did you use a code?

No code, it was one of their city specials. When you're on the reservation page, there should be a yellow "city specials" button that drops prices on select car categories.

I reserved a compact with Budget /Amazon deal for a week. $368 final price plus 10% Amazon gift card when the rental is completed.

Yay 8 days away, from 379.33 yesterday and down to 337.39 today. Same standard car size. But this time could not use coupon but still Costco.

September one has not changed from yesterday’s lowest rate so far that I got.

Idk if anyone has tried this the last few days or not but I’ve had some good luck with auto slash. I’ve now got my rental down to under $300 for the week and it’s now an SUV instead of a car.

I just booked a car for 8/30 to 9/5. Alamo - midsize - $325. People must be canceling, the price before was over $500. I can't believe I think $325 is a good price. :rotfl: :rotfl:
