Hello, we are making plans to head back the the world after a few years away. We are looking to book a 1 bedroom villa at a non home resort. Can anyone give me any info as to the likelyhood of there being availability at 7 months out. We have narrowed it down to OKW, AK, BLT or BCV. For us, there are pros and cons to each resort so we are hoping to let the availability make the final decision for us. Unfortunately, we cannot make a reservation at our home and expect to trade b/c that reservation would require more pts than OKW and AK (if this is all that is available) and we know that we will not be heading back to use those points lost in the trade before they expire.

We are looking to head down for 10 days (Wed - Sat) during the dream season of August.

Any insight and or recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I have had very good luck changing resorts in August at the 7 month window into all the resorts you mentioned but BCV. Now I didn’t do 10 nights but by that time many southern schools are back in session so I think you will have good luck, especially given you have a few different resorts you’d be okay with!

Availability for a 1 bedroom should be pretty decent would be my thoughts, particularly if you are ok with 1 of 4 resorts. Might have issues with the length of stay, so Id be prepared for having ato accept a split stay, but I think you will get at least one resort with all nights available in some view category.

As far as resorts - very disparate list!!!
OKW - very isolated, not near any parks, cheapest points per room, To me this is more a 'get away from it all" resort.
AK - no walking to a park, so to me its a little isolated. its far from 3 of the 4 parks. love the theme and Savannah views and the lobby at Jambo. I find the rooms to be very dark. Good food options
BLT - best food options, walk to MK, monorail to epcot, not a fan of the pools.
BCV - walk to epcot, Storm along Bay, Food is lacking to me, but there is also the yacht club and walk to boardwalk I love the casual atmosphere.

In august, my pick would be beach club as I would likely be using the pool a lot.

Thank you so much for the info! I think I stumbled upon your 2015 table but I felt that info was probably out of date. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Both responses really made me feel more confident about our situation.

Unfortunately, the price increases throughout all aspects of a Disney vacation have forced us to look at different options. We felt that saving some pts and allowing us to have a kitchen (for the first time!) would save us some money on food. Ok.... a lot of money based on how my family eats:-)

We also used less pts for changing seasons as well as cheaper park ticket prices.

Yes, you are right... very different choices!
OKW - love the size and pt value! It has boat access to DS which is a plus
AK - bigger room and 2 TOLIETS AND SHOWERS!!!!!! This is huge for a family with 2 daughters:-) But yes, it is dark and far from everything
BLT - love everything but this was where we stayed last and we love trying new places. Also, we would have to borrow all 2021 pts and still OTR a few.
BC - Doesn’t have the chair bed which is a negative but we were there many years ago an you just cant beat the pool as well as walking distance to 2 parks.

Like I said, there are definitely pros and cons to each one. All in all we are just super excited to get back.

Thank you again!

Can you book your home resort for less days so you will at least have something on the books? Then modify at 7 months.

I was able to make reservations for this Aug inside the 7 month window. I was booking a 2B bed but I had a few resorts to choose from, including OKW and AKV-Kidani.

Just food for thought (pun intended), depending on your family size and eating habits, going from 1 BR to Studio, and then renting the points may 1) saving you money once you factor in the costs of buying groceries, 2) allow you to eat at the restaurants without spending your vacation time cooking. May have to eat quick service, but those are still pretty awesome and reasonably priced (considering where you are).
