Hello there! :wave2: let me introduce myself. My name is Adri, I am 35 years old and I am from South FL. Lived here since I was 2 so I'm basically a native South Floridian :cutie:. I've been married for 5 years to my wonderful husband Al. We have a 2 year-old little boy and a 6 month-old little girl.

Growing up my family was very much a Disney family, we had annual passes and were there about 5 times a year.:earboy2: I have great memories of our car rides to Orlando and how we could make our way around the parks with our eyes closed. But, I admit it kinda lost its appeal once I was in my late teens and college years. We went on our last family trip in 1998 and I didn't return until 2007 and that was only to EPCOT for WFF.

However, once I got pregnant with my first baby in 2012 I had all these visions of family Disney trips like the ones I remember growing up. Thats when I discovered this board and started reading all the tips, tricks, and my favorite - the trip reports!:disrocks:

So to make a long story short, we havent taken a "real" Family trip to Disney yet. I had 2 babies in 2 years and just didn't feel we could handle it. We did take a short one-day trip to MK back in February to meet family that was visiting from Texas. We only took DS(2yo) as DD(3mo-at the time) was too little. DS did great, loved seeing his idol Mickey and loved the rides. However 24hrs was a very short amount of time so it felt rushed and like we didnt really see much.

We decided that next year we would do a "REAL" family trip to celebrate DS's 3rd birthday in January 2016. We figured by then our DD would be a little over a year old and that would be easier on all of us. I've done tons of research and started planning that trip already. :surfweb:

However, in the process of all that researching I got an uncontrollable urge to go RIGHT NOW! I just dont want to wait till January!!!:sad2:

So I decided we would take a short trip this summer, somehow I convinced DH this was a good idea.:woohoo::banana: It helped that I found a great deal for mid-august and showed him how it would be less crowded than earlier in the summer. It isnt the BIG trip we are planning for January but it is still a trip to Disney which will satisfy me until we go again 5 months later.:dancer::earseek:

Our plans are as follows:

Sunday August 16th
Depart between 8-9am
Arrive between 12-1pm - drive straight to Contemporary Resort for..... BRUNCH AT CHEF MICKEY'S!!
(I got lucky and this popped up when I was looking up available lunch ADR's, apparently they just became available today!:tinker:)
After lunch we will check in to our hotel for 1 night - Marriott Springhill Suites. They have a nice pool and splash pad so we will spend the rest of the day there.
Dinner will be either at the hotel or at a restaurant close by.

Monday August 17th
Once the kids wake up (usually between 6:30-7am) we will head down for our free breakfast buffet then spend a couple of hours in the pool until check out time.
For lunch we have an ADR at T-Rex in Downtown Disney. ADR is for 2pm but from what I hear parking is a nightmare so we are aiming to arrive by 1pm.
After lunch we will check in to our resort for the next 2 nights........POP Century!
After we check in we will unpack, and take it easy the rest of the day -
stroll around checking out the hotel and spend some time in the pool.
Dinner will be at the POP food court.
We will make it an early night as we have a busy day the next day.

Tuesday August 18th - MAGIC KINGDOM!!!!
I am trying to get an early ADR for CP, but if that doesnt pan out we will have breakfast in our room and plan to be at the park before rope drop.
1st stop will be the Town Square to meet Mickey and then probably head over to Buzz Light Year
Everything else will depend on what FP+ I am able to get.
Lunch and Dinner will be QS at the park.
DD will nap in her stroller so we can sit somewhere in the shade while she sleeps sometime after lunch. DS does not nap every day but might out of pure exhaustion.
Another option is to head to the hotel mid-day for naps and then head back for a late night at the park since its open till 12. The issue is DS's naps are hit and miss these days. So I worry we will just end up wasting time if we go back to the room and he refuses to sleep. Cooling off in the pool is another option...but I still have to think this part through. Like I said, it all depends on what FP I am able to get.

Wednesday August 19th
I am hoping the kids will sleep in due to the long day before. We are going to relax in the hotel room till check out time then load the car and walk over to AOA for lunch and to take a look around.
We should be on the road by 2pm and home by 6pm assuming no crazy heavy traffic once we hit S. FL during rush hour :drive::teeth:

So there you have it, A short 3 day trip that I was able to almost fully plan in 1 day (minus FP)! Only one park but I think that is all we can handle with two kids under 3. I am so excited, August cant get here fast enough!:cheer2::Pinkbounc:mickeyjum

I hope I didnt bore you half to death, but it is my first Pre-Trip Report

:thanks:

So now I am considering doing Chef Mickey's Brunch on our MK day instead of on our arrival day. I was able to get an ADR for 1pm.

The pros would be getting out of the mid-day sweltering heat for a bit and not having to stress making a 2pm ADR on our arrival day (we live 3.5 hours away). Plus if DS is getting tired and cranky he will perk right up once he sees the Fab 5.

The cons are that we will have no Disney-related activities on our arrival day (but we can do a pool day at the hotel) and that we will lose park time. I admit I have never done the mid-day break before so I don't know if this would benefit us or not. The park is open till midnight but again, with DS's naps being hit or miss I dont know how late we will stay.

Any opinions/thoughts/comments are welcomed!

After much thought I went a totally different direction. I upgraded us to DDP (we originally had QS, I don't expect to save money this way but we like having our meals pre-paid) Ended up changing all our ADR's and ended up with these:

Sunday:
2:30pm ADR at T-REx

Monday:
2pm ADR at Chef Mickey's

Tuesday:
9:10 ADR at Crystal Palace *I may cancel
still hoping for a lunch BOG

Wednesday:
12:30 ADR at Whispering Canyon *I may cancel

*I have to decide between CP on Tuesday or WP on Wednesday, gotta think about it some more.

till next time....

Some people are reading I guess, so I will continue to write. Plus I like putting all my plans into words like this..

Once I again I changed up our ADR's...

Sunday:
2:30pm ADR at T-REx

Monday:
12pm ADR at Chef Mickey's
I read several reviews that said it is more an extension of breakfast than a real brunch so I decided to move it up from 2pm

Tuesday:
9:10 ADR at Crystal Palace *CANCELED
Opted for lunch instead at 12:45pm.
Will continue to search for a lunch ADR at BOG, if I get one we will do dinner at CP

Wednesday:
12:30 ADR at Whispering Canyon *CANCELED
Replaced with Lunch at AOA - Landscape of Flavor
DH wants us to take it easy on our departure day without having to worry about making an ADR, we can walk over to AOA before starting the drive home.

This should be it for the ADR's. Next step - FP+! But that wont be until 6/18 :worried:

So we are less than 2 months from our trip. I made some more changes to our ADRs and I'm pretty sure our dining choices are set in stone at this point. So here are our plans as of now:

Sunday August 16th

Depart between 8-9am
Arrive between 12-1pm - drive straight to Downtown Disney for a 2:30pm ADR at T-Rex
A friend who lives in Orlando is going to meet us for lunch with her husband and 3yo so I am especially excited about this.
We'll spend some time walking around DD, have an adult beverage, and catch up with our friends. Then we will be checking in to Marriott Springhill Suites for one night. We will probably hang out in the pool for the rest of the evening and grab something to eat nearby.

Monday August 17th
Once the kids wake up (usually between 6:30-7am) we will head down for our free breakfast buffet and grab something small to hold us over until our brunch the we will pack up and head over to POP. Originally I had us going straight to the Contemporary but then found out we have to check-in in order to activate our magic bands for DDP.
We have a 12:30 brunch ADR at Chef Mickey's

After lunch we will check in to our resort and probably spend the rest of the day in the pool. Dinner will be QS at Everything POP

We will make it an early night as we have a busy day the next day.

Tuesday August 18th - MAGIC KINGDOM!!!!

I got lucky and snagged an 8am ADR at BOG. I am VERY excited about this!!
Lunch will be at CP at 12:45pm

As for whether or not to leave the park mid-day; DH and I have decided to just play it by ear. We will see how our morning goes and what our toddler's mood is like after lunch and take it from there.

I was able to get our desired Fast passes and I opted for morning times on all 3. I went on touringplans.com and created 2 different touring plans. Both have us taking care of the must-do rides before lunch. On one we leave the park immediately after lunch to do some swimming and (hopefully) napping back at the hotel before we return at 5-6pm. The park is open till midnight so we will stay as long as our toddler is still enjoying himself.

On the second plan I have us taking a 1-hour break inside the park after lunch. We'll just find a cool spot to sit down and unwind before hitting the rides again. from then on we will try to get additional FP+, do the PeopleMover, Carrousel of Progress, ride the Train around the park and the rest of the rides we didnt get to in the morning. We will stay as long as the kids are still awake and happy.

I am counting down the days to this trip!! Now that our plans are pretty much set, I get to concentrate on the next aspect - planning our outfits! right now I am deciding between getting cute Disney licensed shirts or making them with iron on paper.

Oh and we have officially decided to upgrade to the Seasonal Pass when we are there, so there will be a lot more Disney planning in my future! (I'm already cooking up a plan for a kid-free Epcot FWF weekend, but shhhh dont tell DH!)

My wife and I are arriving the same day and we are staying at pop for 6 nights. Maybe we ll see you there lol
