Hey there,
I'm no help to any of your questions really but we're also looking to go August 2013 (limited to school holidays as DBF is a teacher!) and I wanted to say it's never too early to start looking and start getting excited! Woohoo! :goodvibes

I think prices for summer 2013 start to appear January 2012? As a rough guestimate for saving up though I looked at flights for Easter 2013 as I think school holidays are much of a muchness, and did a little guestimate of hotel + park tickets on the Disney UK website. Just so I know how much to roughly save (ALOT)! I know there is some incredibly knowledgeable and helpful people on this forum who will help you with your questions and I will also be keeping tabs on the answers! :thumbsup2

For school holidays the brochures will be expensive, we also find packages restrictive, usually 1, 2 or 3 weeks, whereas doing DIY we can book 23, 24 or 25 nights that we like to do in the summer.

To give you idea of a package price for 3 adults for our dates next summer Virgin Holidays: 3 weeks at Old Key West, free DDP, 21 day tix & full size car with insurance: Total for your holiday £9441

Break it down if you do DIY
Disney.co.uk OKW, 21 day tix & free DDP £3406
Car rental with gold ins £450
3 flights with Virgin Atlantic £2,844
Total £6,700, £2741 cheaper for exactly the same holiday.

We have booked using airmiles so total we are paying is approx £4,626 but flying out PE rather than economy, well under half the package price.

Off peak travel then packages can be reasonable but August prices are crazy IMO

We find DDP great value when combined with the 42% off at OKW(or SSR) & just now $150 spending money ontop. without the other discounts/offers its not so appealing to us and would be staying offsite. Free DDP might not even be an option for 2013, too early yet.

Once again ..thanks Wayneg...something tells me i will be saying that a lot over the next 20 months!!!!!

I would never book a package deal, I had a look at a Thomas Cook brochure recently whilst planning our trip and it was basically £2700 per person for 2 weeks at Yacht and Beach Club September 2012. Which I think is ridiculous!

By looking around at flights (we usually go Delta or Continental and don't mind indirect flights because no children), choosing dates carefully and booking accomodation direct with Disney it will be about £3000, maybe a little more, for the two of us but still a massive saving! We always go off peak in September, so it is cheaper anyway but you should still be able to get something quite reasonable in August, especially if it's late August. Obviously nothing has been confirmed about DDP for 2013 but that's also fantastic and other deals/discounts often pop up too. I think we might miss out on the $150 to spend in the parks but there is still hope for confirming the booking by November 15th.

My best advice would don't rush into booking the first deal you are offered, shop around a bit and plan even the small details carefully to get the most for your money. I don't mind spending a bit if I fell I'm getting a fair deal for my money.

We're going in August 2013 as well:yay:. Condo is already booked for 2 weeks and I'm hoping that Disney do free DDP again. Flights we will book next September.
