QOTD:

We are staying at AoA Lion King. I'm beyond excited to experience this new resort. All photos so far look awesome and with 3 little ones the theme is perfect for us right now. Our trip was originally booked for Nov but dh's work threw us a curve ball and we had to move it too August - which means we HAD to upgrade to a suite (vs LM). :yay:

eta: I just priced out AKL and it would actually be $200 cheaper and I would jump at it if the kids were older - of course we couldn't do it with 3 kids but ykwim...the themeing at AoA is just right for us right now!

That's awesome! You will love POR! It's one of my favorites! I can't imagine how hard it is for you to keep this surprise from your husband. When are you going to tell him?!?! I surprised my husband on our honeymoon with a resort upgrade and it was so hard!! I finally told him in the airport when we landed.

Its REALLY hard! Especially because he almost booked a trip overseas to see family for the same time frame. So i had to tell him that something may or may not be happening, and I am sworn to secrecy and won't tell him any more details. So he knows something is going on, but doubt he has any idea that it's WDW!! It's been his dream since he was a kid, so I am sure he will love it.

I won't tell him anything until we get closer to the US border (we are in Toronto and flying out of Buffalo). I'm thinking of playing a Disney CD and have him guess where we might be heading. Let's hope it works out, and I won't burst from keeping this secret for so long! :rotfl:

We're staying at CBR. We've stayed there twice before and like it. Our budget mostly puts us at moderates and we've stayed at POR so many times, we wanted something different. We're also taking DH's niece for her first trip and we thought she would like that better.

CBR is the only mod we havent stayed at yet. What is your favorite section? I would want to stay closest to the FQ, and not necessarily close to the main pool. With the kids being older, we're satisfied w/ the quiet pools. Im just concerned w/ the distance to the FQ. We stayed at CSR once in JULY, and that hike to the FQ "sukt"!:headache: So weird that my priority is proximity to the food:rolleyes1

Well good luck!! I can't wait to hear how it goes!!

Well at CBR, everything is all together - food court, gift shop, restaurant AND pool. Have you looked at the map?? If you are in a standard view, the best buildings (in my opinion) are 44, 45, 51 or 52. I put in a request for all 4 hoping that I would at least get one. Some of the buildings are faaaaaaar. There is even an internal bus.

The first time we stayed there we were in a preferred section, the second time we were in building 45 and it was great! Just over the bridge to the main area.

Wait, did you mean what's my favorite section at POR??? Sorry, I went on a rant about CBR and realized you're not even staying there!

IDK why I kept typing FQ!! I mean FC!! I must have the French Quarter on my brain:lmao: Anyway, thanx for the tips. We may stay there next year just so I can cross it off thee ole bucket list

We are staying at AoA in a nemo suite because it is the cheapest accommodations for 4 people who need 3 sleeping areas and love that movie.

QOTD: TELL US WHERE YOU'RE STAYING AND WHY YOU CHOSE YOUR RESORT!!

Our offsite answer......

We chose Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa. A few reasons behind our selection:

- location.....we love the I-Drive area, and the resort is super close to Aquatica, Discovery Cove, and the outlet malls.

- space....we have a two bedroom, two bathroom unit with a full kitchen and laundry facilities. We need our space on vacation....we hate being cramped into a regular hotel room. We love having separate sleeping areas, more than one bathroom, and multiple TV's.

- amenities......7 pools, 7 hot tubs, mini golf, fishing, paddle boats, tennis court, basketball, volleyball, bike rentals, fitness center, resort activities .....there's tons to do if we just want to kick back, relax and have a "resort day".

HAPPY LAST FRIDAY OF JUNE, TEAM AUGUST!!!:cheer2:
QOTD: TELL US WHERE YOU'RE STAYING AND WHY YOU CHOSE YOUR RESORT!!

We are doing a split stay between the Poly and BLT. We are first staying at the Poly for 3 nights since DH and both of our girls have never been before and wanted to try it out...I, on the other hand, used to stay there as a kid with my parents when we went to Disney back in the 80's. I have been waiting and dreaming about returning one day :goodvibes. We are then going to be heading over to BLT for 9 nights. We are DVC members and had originally bought into BLT back in 2010 but have yet to stay there. So when we were trying to decide where we were going to stay for this trip, DH said that he didn't care just as long as it involves BLT (he is so excited about staying there ).

Sounds great! We stayed at Bonnet Creek in 2010....holy moley~It was SO nice to have that master bedroom and the full kitchen and 2 baths. PLUS-our balcony faced Spaceship Earth, so we got to see the high fireworks in the privacy of our own little corner of the World. I missed being on property though, cuz Im bratty that way, but that place was beautiful and the pools were outstanding:thumbsup2

Boardwalk inn!! We picked it because it is walking distance to DHS and Epcot and we like walking to the parks!! Also, they have deluxe rooms that sleep 6. I can't wait!!! :)

QOTD: TELL US WHERE YOU'RE STAYING AND WHY YOU CHOSE YOUR RESORT!! (yes, I know it may say in the tickers, humor me:goodvibes)

Almost time before we can say, 'I go to Disney world NEXT MONTH'!!

We are staying at AoA for a few reasons. It's new, we are a group of 6, and it accepted the military discount. We can't wait!!

We're staying at Wydham Lake Buena Vista Resort in DTD for the first 3 days of our trip, and then off to Coronado Springs for following 7 days. I originally just had the 7 days booked, and then Travelzoo had a great deal for vouchers at the Wyndham so I booked those days. I chose Coronado because I've stayed at CBR and POFQ previously, wanted to try something different, and people who have stayed there seem to have loved it.

66 days!
Oops! Make that 56 days!

I priced AoA last week and considered switching. I was so surprised that AoA was running me more! On the fri and sat of our stay AoA was $395:eek: My kids are 4 and 6 and would love AoA but they are so excited about AkL too.

Wait, did you mean what's my favorite section at POR??? Sorry, I went on a rant about CBR and realized you're not even staying there!

No you were right,I wacked you all out by saying FQ when I meant FC (food court). I was for sure trying to get feedback on CBR. Sorry to confuse~I really need a vacation!!!

Great Choice!!:thumbsup2 We enjoyed our stay there, except we kept getting lost trying to find the pool,lol.....er maybe it was just my directionally-challenged family. Anyhoo, this place is fun at night-it really comes to life when the sun goes down!:)

What's funny is, I knew EXACTLY what you meant when you said FQ and didn't even think it was a mistake! Haha!

Glad I found this post, since I had to tell someone!! Today, i booked our first trip to Disney World! And since this is an anniversary surprise trip for my husband, I can't even share it with him (it is killing me, since he is usually the one that surprises me!).

We booked at POR with free dining (August 31-Sept 5)! And just booked the flights too, flying out of Buffalo for only $240 pp. The price may come down $20 or so, but I couldn't wait any longer. So excited! :cheer2:

Have fun trying to keep the secret. DH and I are trying to keep our trip from the kids.

YOu can book a preferred room at CBR that puts you in a building close to the food court and the main pool.

We are staying at the Grand Floridian. I absolutely did NOT think I would EVER do this!!! First time ever at a deluxe and the girls don't know! When they were 7 and 3 we stayed at ASMu, then ASMo, then POR(AB), then POFQ. This time they think we are at POR(Mansions request). Youngest DD (18 now and just graduated) has drooled over GF since her first visit at age 3. So we upgraded without telling them!! Also first time on the monorail!

Trying to intercept the Mickey mail so she doesn't find out, but I work and she doesn't!!! DD22 is away at college over the summer, so she's not going to catch me!

Where am I staying?
Who knows?:lmao:

It's down to AoA in a family suite for the five of us or two rooms at Pop.
I want to stay at AoA but we will need to stick with the counter service dining plan if we do. 2 rooms at Pop and we could get the DDP for the same price. It's 500 more to stay at AoA.
I think it's going to be AoA but you just never know.
