August 2010 Code watch

It all depends on where you are staying and how many in your group. This year 5 out of the 6 of us are going. So thats approx $140 a day saving on the dinning plan which I know were are not getting that much off a night of the hotel.

Just saw there are 4 of you counted as adults so thats a $160 saving.(if its the regular dinning plan). Not sure what hotel you booked at.

Yes there are 4 counted as adults, staying at the beach club 7nights, the plus dining. Thanks

I'm kind of new at this. Could someone tell me what bounceback means?

When you stay at a disney resort they leave a flier in your room with a discount to return to any of there resorts for a discounted rate. You have to make the ressie before you checkout and pay the deposit.;)

When you book a trip while you are on a trip it is considered a bounceback. Disney offers certain deals not available to the general public if you book a retrun trip to Disney while you are a current guest in one of their hotels.

As to whether free dining beats 40%, you need to work the numbers for your resort and number of people. And, remember that 40% is for deluxe, only 30% at mods and 20% at values.

For my August trip I am paying $95 a night at Pop with FD. If I had 20% that wouldn't even save me $20. Dining cost is $84 a night for us. The final nights of our stay we are heading over to the Yacht Club. Rack rate for our dates is $382. The 40% code saves me $152 a night, while FD would still only save me $84 a night. If I had 4 adults at the Yacht Club , FD would save about $12 over the 40% code.

I am REALLY hoping for another 4/3 deal this year. Does anyone remember when it was offered last year? We are considering a WDW trip the 2nd week of August.

What does that deal cover? the rooms only? the parks only? both? sorry i don't really understand it. TIA:confused3

I know that deal was available in the spring/early summer b/c that's when we went. I'm not sure if it was reinstated later in Aug or not.

If you bought 4 nights, you got 3 free and that included your room and your park tickets. :)

thanks excitedtraveler I hope they do offer it, I can definitely use it this year!!!

We're thinking about a trip to Disney in August. I've been doing everything I can to get a PIN. Today I got an email with a PIN and was so excited. When I called I found out that the PIN is in my MIL's name (she travelled with us 2 years ago and got entered into the Disney system at our address and under my email address). I'm SO disappointed!

Can you only get a PIN if you stayed there sometime recently and gave them your email address?

We're staying at the Yacht Club in August. Right now, I've got it booked at the AAA rate. Kinda stings a little though because our last several trips have all been booked on either a ~40% off bounceback rate or ~40% off AP rate. I've got an AP now that expires in June, so I'm hoping they release AP rates for August by June, so I can see if it's worth it for me to renew or not. No interest in free dining - I just want that big percentage off the room rate.

This is the Pin I got, too. Nobody else in my extended family has gotten one at all. Lucky for us, dd16 has been foregoing gifts/parties/other high school senior activities to have this trip, instead. It's gonna be tight, but we are going (I do feel bad that she has no class ring, won't have a graduation party, etc...but she has been insisting for over a year that a TRIP is what she wants.)

SOOOOO....we are off to see the mouse in August as a family. We booked Pop yesterday (2 rooms for the 6 of us) but dd strongly preferred to try the ASMu family suite this time and it IS her celebration trip. $2500 for 5nts/5days at ASMu family suite, 2A/3J/1C, QSDP included. We won't have souvenir money, nor extra money to play with down there, but we'll be celebrating in the way dd wants...and making wonderful memories.

So if anyone knows of free/SUPER-cheap ways to do special things for dd16, let me know. She is being very generous in giving up a lot, to have a vacation with her parents & siblings!

WE are definitely going in August now. Calling later to change our reservation. I was hoping for a pin, yet to get one. We are staying at the Poly, so 40% off would be great, but I think I talked my parents into going, so Free Dining would save just as much for 4 adults and 1 child.
When do they usually announce FD to the public? Still holding out hope for a pin though

We want to go in late August and stay at Beach Club. How long should I wait to see if I get a PIN??? Or should I just book and hope I get a discount later? If I book through AAA and use their discount, can I later use a 40% discount from Disney if it becomes available?

If you can afford the deposit I don't see the harm in booking now. If you use your AAA discount for a room only, you will be fine. However, if you want a package with tickets/dining you will have to have a AAA TA make your arrangements for you. :confused3

Free Dining, if it is offered to the public will likely be announced before the 40% is announced. You can't have AAA rate and get Free Diniing. When FD is announced you can decide if it is worth giving up your AAA rate. Then, if they announce a code, you can apply the code and lose the FD or AAA rate. At that point you can decide whether or not you want to pay for dining.

We just got a pin through e-mail about $68 per person per day or something to that effect. It had a pin attached to it at the bottom and it mentioned briefly about asking about other resorts. We've been booked since August at the Poly, but I called to see if this code could be applied to my reservation and it actually saved us $1000. I think the 4/3 will save more, but it's a very nice start. So my advice is to call about any pin you get and see if it applies (which isn't always advertised or promoted).

Gotcha! Thanks. I need to figure out the $$$ of FD vs. 40% for our family. So the AAA people can change me from the AAA discount to FD if that becomes available?

Also, are the discount codes usually valid for 1 bdrm villas if we decide to do that instead of a regular room?

Thanks again!
Amanda
