August 2009 code watch

I know what you mean. The only weeks we had to pick from next year was the 3rd week in August or Christmas week. DSD's college schedule is completely different than the public school schedules.

So I guess you're holding out for rates in August and not for Christmas!! :)

Exactly. There are no discounts at Christmas. The other cons were higher airfare, peak DVC points and peak crowds. The only con for August is the heat but we've survived it before.

Not that it's going to happen, but I don't think that anyone could pay ME enough to go to WDW during Christmas, just for the crowds factor! ;) And I agree about the August heat - that's holding one of my sisters back right now, but we're working on her...I mean how are her kids going to feel when all of their cousins are going to WDW without them!! We can deal with heat, and hopefully with good room rates, too. :)

Add me to the list.:cool1:

We are going the first Monday in August that is value season and has some sort of special code. We need something to bring down the cost. Rack rate won't fly.:sad2: Hopefully discounts will come sooner instead of later.

Also had to cancel our trip this year.:sad1: We had a 40% off code and still could not afford it with the way things went this year. Saving for 2 years for this next vacation.:scared:

Sorry that you had to cancel this year but hope that things work out for August 2009! :)

I am also one that had to cancel this year's August trip. It nearly killed me to do it, but it was the right thing to do. So, now I'm looking to August 2009! I am planning on an 8-11 night stay (depending on budget) in the All Star Family Suites with my family of five. Some sort of code/discount would be great!

Happy Planning everyone!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

On the bright side, planning is half of the fun!! (sorry that you had to cancel this year). Fingers crossed for code/discount pirate:

It's official..we are all booked and just hoping a code will come out later in the year. It was so exciting printing off the confirmation email..I can hardly wait.

My girlfriend coffee group will be going next August to celebrate one of the lady's birthday...I hope we will get great rates:)

Do you think they'll offer free dining again during the late August/September months again?

Of course they will! That's why they came out with the new counter service dining plan - it will allow disney to give away free dining for cheaper. The problem for me is that my AAA rate is saving me $53 per night. Even with 3 adults and 2 kids, I'm not sure I'd trade that rate for free counter service. If it was free table service I'd do it, but the counter service is worth less and won't work for character meals. I'll just have to wait and see.

Another one for August 2009 here! Pardon my ignorance, but can someone tell me about the codes? How does one find out about them, and when do they usually release them?

Sorry if these are silly questions.

:)

We are trying to decide whether or not to book an August 09 trip....it really is the only time (other than spring break in March) that we can get away for a trip next year. I think the heat and crowds is scaring us but we really want to go for my DH's 40th birthday...

If you can get to the parks early and leave by lunch until after dinner, the heat is tolerable.

We were planning on going when value season starts, but saw that it doesn't start until Aug. 9th! ( I believe that it started Aug 5th in 07 and 08) And since DH is a teacher and needs to be back to get room ready and meetings, it wil likely be a shorter trip then we had planned on.

Hi, We are going August 19th -25th 2009. Daughter in law and two grandsons first time!!!:cool1: We have never done the dining plan but are doing it this time. What do you think our chances are of getting free dining with these dates? Also, when did the codes come out for free dining in August last year? Thanks for the help. :flower3:

Well, I just booked August 9-17th at Caribbean Beach. Somehow we'll make it work with the heat. RIght now we have the AAA discount which saves us over $300.
