I called Debbie at Ressie and here's the deal:

105 days out -- If you have concierge service or purchased the REAS package. If you bought a REAS package, you can make ressies without your cruise balance having to be paid off.

90 days out -- if you are a Castaway Cay Club Member (returning cruiser). However, once again, you can only take advantage of this timeline if your cruise balance is paid in full.

75 days out -- all others who have paid their cruise off. However , when some of us made our reservations last year, they will still under the 60-day out due date. If you are waiting until June to make that final payment, then you cannot take advantage of the above timeline unless your cruise balance is paid in full.

Hope that isn't too confusing!

Cathy

Figures!

It's back to the "ask one CM get one answer, ask another, get a whole different story!"

Oh well, at least it's paid, well until I pay the cc bill! Let's hope I missed this billing period!

Now to concentrate on the spending money!

The idea of formal night is super exciting to us because we have never done one!

You see, we have done two 3-night and two 4-night Wonder cruises, but have never been on the Magic. So we (okay me) are totaly psyched for getting dolled up in full-length gowns and tuxes!! I can't wait!! princess:

I totally agree with you. And if you get those fancy duds on sale, it doesn't hurt the pocketbook too much either!

Our first cruise was the four-night. When we took the Magic for the first time, the formal and semi-formal nights were so much fun. Not only dressing up, but looking at everyone else and watching people getting their formal pictures, etc. I love the atrium on formal nights. It's like being at the prom all over again!!!! :dancer: :wizard:

Great description, Cathy! :goodvibes

And like the prom, we'll all know each other which makes the people-watching even MORE fun!

Just thought I'd pop in real fast and say "I'm not dead" (yet) :goodvibes

I'm up to the eyeballs in alligators right now  We close escrow Monday (yippeee!!), we get our keys Tuesday, we move in Saturday (05/14 - the day the Magic leaves FL). We still have packing to finish. Because of some silly 14 night cruise ;) I don't have any vacation left to take off any time this week to pack/move. The stress level is "up there." And of course work is driving me nuts, not to mention the home based business (travel agent) is picking up (okay, so that falls into the "good" column), and have I mentioned I haven't finished packing yet??? And of course I realize TODAY that I'll be able to book excursions, spa appointments and Palo ressies in 2 weeks (as a CC member) :earseek: I ain't ready for that - no clue what I want, what days I want it, I'm about ready to :badpc: :teeth:

For those of you sending me payments for the pins & medallions - I am getting them (a couple a day) but I'm so swamped with moving that I just don't have the time to email anyone right now to confirm payment receipt. And if this happens :badpc: of course I won't be able to email anyone. :rotfl2: But if you want to email me, I can respond quickly with a "yes/no" on if I got your payment or not.

Never fear though, you have until May 31st (3 1/2 weeks) to get your payment to me (at least the PO BOX mailing address won't change with the move). We'll be ordering the pins/medallions in early June, expecting to have them in hand by the end of June. That way if there are any "issues" with them (like I had with the May pins  ) I have plenty of time to get the pins remade (and would have them by the end of July). The "grand plan" is to mail out pins/medallions in July (for those of you paying for shipping).

Good luck with the move....I think I will wait at about two weeks or so before I send you payment....give you some time to get settled!!! :goodvibes

Since Izzinmac pointed out that an earlier DIS-group had a problem trying to book a large group for High Tea at Palo's, I have a favour to ask of anyone who can start booking tomorrow (REAS or Concierge guests).

PLEASE BOOK HIGH TEA FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 26 FOR AS LARGE A PARTY AS POSSIBLE! :cloud9:

Many westbounders were booking tables of 5-6 for Tea and then posting for companions to join them. We'll work the opposite direction - We've got the people; we just need all the seats on the same day! :rotfl2:

Please PM me to let me know if you're able to get Tea ressies for FRIDAY, AUGUST 26.

Thanks so much!

Arlene

Mom and I were thinking for Thursday, but we can be flexible. I guess a Friday High Tea is just as good. What time frame are you thinking? Just so I know. How big a table can you reserve? I have never eaten @ Palo's and know NOTHING about the restaurant.

Hello everyone, :wave2:
I still have not catch up here on Dis. I think i will tonight.

My FIL is here for the weekend. I am so happy. He is feeling down, but is doing good. Well the other news is that...
Bob called the DCL today and it will cost $1400 to add the 3rd passenger on to cat 11!!(my parents room) YIKES!!!! Can't get the orginal early prices, but what you gonna do??? :confused3 so we added him on anyway. But in reality, he is staying with us in Cat 6 so the price isn't too bad for a vernadah view.($100 per day) He is sleeping now so we will announce it to him later....I just hope he will go!!!!! Let's hope!! and then you will be able to meet him!!!!

Later,

Mel

Hi Mel--good luck with the surprise for your FIL!!!!!

Time to get P-O'd and start a letter writing campaign!!

I talked with Tinkerbel129 (Lori) today. She was just down at WDW for the Animal Kingdom Pin Event. She heard and verified with several higher-ups at the event that

All 1,000 Super Jumbo Panama Canal Crossing Pins will be released on the May cruise!!

I think most of us thought it would be equitable with them releasing half in May and half in August. Not so!! First we get short shrift by getting one less port and now we lose out on the boxed commemorative pin?? And we are paying the same as the May cruisers? Not fair in my book.

Reps from Event Services have said that this is out of their control as the special pins on these cruises are not part of a Pin Event. DCL has final word and has decided on all of the Super Jumbos being released in May.

WE CAN TRY TO CHANGE THIS!! Write to DCL and express your dissatisfaction! If you know someone higher up in DCL management or know someone who knows someone, let them know how we feel!

Okay, I'm P.O.'d!!! I'll write!!! And, it's not fair to have only 1,000. They should have at least enough for one per cabin, and be sure that each cabin gets one, like they gave us each a special litho on the San Juan cruises last summer.....

That's Disney For You~!

Unbelievable! It really does not surprise me that this is happening!

Isn't there a Jumbo pin being released on the August cruise with the ship in the opposite direction??????

Ok, I know I have not really been around much the last few months and have fallen way behind on the thread. But, when I talked to Perdita early, she said we need to let everyone know. I attended the AK pin event that took place on April 30th and this is what I have heard from the cast members.

The only info I wanted to find out was about this super jumbo re-position pin. At the event I talked to Jim Mathews, Darlene Dumas, Julie and Steve and the only information I seem to have gotten was that all 1000 will be released on the May sailing. I did voice my opinion that this was un-fair to those that are sailing on the August sailing and a LOT of people will be very upset by this. All they could tell me was that they tried to give some advice to DCL merchandising and merchandising will do whatever they want to do. This is not a pin event and they have nothing to do with it. Which I do not blame event services for any of these problems and thank them for trying their best to find an answer for me.
Now, today I tried calling DCL and was told to call a certain number, which only lead me to WDW merchandise. Well anyway, I voiced my concern and asked about finding out more information about this pin. A couple of hours later I receive a phone call back, with really no info on just the jumbo pin. Only info that there would be limited editions released on both sailings.
If you look at the official disney pin trading site there really is no info about just the jumbo pin, it really seems to talk about the other pins that will be released.

I guess all I got to say is if I am going to pay the same as the May cruiser, loose a port of call and no price adjustment, I would hope they find a way to make this pin available to those that are sailing in August.

I would like to send an e-mail to DCL for more information about this but, don't know who to send it to.

It will work for the August cruise also. The MAY CRUISERS will not get the jumbo pin from the August cruise.

I asked Julie and Steve if there are 2 jumbo pins and was told NO only the 1 jumbo pin. There are the smaller versions for each cruise. If you are able to help find out any further info, that would be great. I am just letting people know what I specifically asked about.

Well, guess I will pay off our cruise on Monday so I can make ressies at the 90 day mark. I am a little miffed about the pins...I've never collected them before but I WANT all those pins...but there are better things to do on a cruise then stand in line...why can't they take advanced reservations or something ? The other thing I want is the entire set of dessert plates at DL...will have to work out how to get those. I need to renew my passport and get DS's also...DH took care of his before he left for Kuwait...our big worry now is that he won't be home on July 20th, but will be held over for a month...I told him he'd have to join the cruise at the first Mexican port. He is saying DS and I need to go even if he can't...not, how tacky would that be...my AD AF DH is in the desert, DS and I are on the DCL repo cruise.

I went to the DCL website and shot off an email thru their Contact Us.

It's at the very bottom of the page.

I will let everybody know what type of a response I recieve. There is also an address but don't want to rely on snail mail for such an outrage.

:cat:

I am beginning to think that DCL is playing favorites and we ain't them. I would have liked to have all the pins, including the plate, but not with all the hassle that is going to result from not having enough. A pin per stateroom would have made at least some sense. There will be people who aren't going to be interested, and people with more than one family/friend in a cabin. So the extras should have been made available at a later time.

I planned to book the REAS on Friday but my TA won't be back til Monday. I'm still going to talk to her on Monday and get it reserved and set up a meeting so we can pay off the cruise. That will be one less thing I have to obsess over.

Took DD out to dinner with her sisters, to celebrate her birthday. At least once they get to college they don't ask for cupcakes anymore. :rotf2: Nice dinner in a local brewery. Of course we all arrived in different cars. I got there first and had time to kill, so I visited the toy store in the building. Don't usually buy things for myself, but...couldn't resist the Madame Alexander doll I found. It just seemed totally appropriate that I buy a doll named Ann Estelle. To quote eldest DDs favorite movie, it was a moral imperative.

As a side note...for any of you moms with young children (say under 9 or so)....if you think you get off the hook when you kids get to high school with bringing cupcakes to school for their birthday....think again!!! My youngest DD just turned 17 today and asked if I could possibly bring cupcakes to her school this afternoon. Of course I obliged!!! She is so stressed with the SAT's tomorrow that I gladly brought them to cheer her up and make her day more special!!!

MJ,
I was at the grocery store at 10:30pm last night buying icing for cupcakes to bring to school today. Our DD turned 7 today! The container that we thought we had didn't look right when we opened it. (Didn't think that stuff could go bad!)

Now we just have to get through the birthday party tomorrow.
