We spent the afternoon in the Emergency Room. Lara fell over a rock at recess and has fractured the "growth plates" in two fingers on her left hand Since they are still like ligaments at her age, they've "buddy strapped" her fingers together rather than casting it. Apparently, there's more damage from immobilizing it.

Gymnastics has now ended for the term for her. She's pretty upset about it (even asked the ER doctor about whether she could still go with her fingers taped!) but we don't see the Hand Specialist until November 29. The term ends on December 6.

The Club was great about it, though. They're going to credit the last four classses towards next term's fees, which is better than her re-injuring it by going back too quickly.

I'm just waiting for 2004 to be over!!! This has not been my family's year!

2005 will be a fresh start, and I have the cruise to look forward to!

Hey Arlene, sorry to hear about your traumatic day. I think some of us here have fractured our "growth plates" beyond repair!!

Melinda, are you throwing down the gauntlet?? Do you realize that by the time our cruise comes we'll be so afraid of what each other has planned that we'll probably be afraid to leave our rooms or go to any evening clubs.

just checkin' in real quick - currently on the Wonder having a grand ol' time

So far out of 3 runs at Bingo we've run twice plus DH won in "prize bingo" on deck this afternoon (got a travel mug, frizbee and medallion). Shouldn't gone to the Atlantis casino huh?? Oh well...

I don't know how much time i have here since we will lose electricity this morning as i got a notice about it...So much for doing laundry now...

Anyway,
Arlene, I feel so bad for Lara!! Pixie Dust and prayers!! Told Brianne about it and she said, "while she may not be able to Gymnastic but at least she can still dance still!! Right?" I am so surprised you can't see the Hand specialist til later!! WOW!! Long Wait!

Susan, if you are back here again, Jackie is the Cruise director on the Wonder right???

Besides my parents are with us and they wouldn't dare do anything immoral or be in a situation where they may actually be arrested by the Master at Arms!!
Eileen, I am going to have fun on embarkation with them to see if they even know who i am!! They already think i looked like that woman who got arrested!!

Thanks, Melinda. She'll be OK for tap and ballet classes, but she'll need to be very careful in Jazz and Musical Theatre - too many star drops and jumps where they hit the floor with their hands!

still here...It is 9:13 am...Electric still kicking but i can hear the bulldozers down the street though..I lived 4 houses from Dead End, but no longer, they are opened the road!! They are adding 200 plus homes!!

Arlene hopefully Lara will be fine. Meagan broke her forearm 3 weeks into her hockey season a couple of years ago. She had her cast on but the appointments and waits at the fracture clinic were long and arduous. We have "universal" health care but when you're trying to get an appointment or referrals it seems like the whole "universe" is in the same line with you
Meags was upset she missed a good portion of her season but she was allowed to stand behind the bench opening the gate for the other players. She never missed a game and it helped alot.

Renee I think you and my wife have the same mindset when it comes to photos of your daughters. We have more portraits and snapshots from every season or event over the past 11 years When Meagan leaves home she gets the photos and will need a cube van to carry them

You're right, I already have 2 photo albums and her baby book full of picsof her and that's not including the Disney photo albums that I've made from our two cruises and Disney World. On our last cruise, I had to buy 2 of the photo packages (a 20 and 10 one) since one wasn't enough and that was for the 7 day. I don't know how many we're going to buy of her on the 14 day! I better start budgeting now for pictures.

There’s nothing more precious than capturing all the moments you can with photos and videos of children. We too have many, many photos of Lara over the years – all events and all seasons! Our upstairs hallway is referred to as “The Lara Gallery”. Every wall has photos and collage frames of her!

When Sears came out with their “SmileSavers” program to cover all sitting fees for two years, they may not have counted on people like me! We go for birthday and Christmas photos, her Hallowe’en costume, each dance costume, back to school, and annual group shots with her cousins!

I “limited” myself to only fifteen 6x8 photos and five 8x10’s at Shutters. This is already in the budget for August, as well as the crystal photo cube they now have available. If they’d offered that in March, I would have bought that too!
