Hi everyone! I am new and very excited. I learned about your board while on passporter.com. My family and I (DH, DD (11), DS(7)) are doing the land/sea with cruising on the 19th. While at Disney, we are going to be staying at Animal Kingdom (as long as we don't get bumped). This will be our 3rd Disney cruise and first Disneyworld experience. Are people assigned their rooms yet? Our agent told us not to get our rooms assigned because maybe one or both of our rooms could be upgraded, however, if you already have a room assignment you will not be upgraded. We're 1st timers and I trust the agent, but I really trust the Dis-folks who have done this before. If everyone would like to meet (and someone had mentioned a certain colored shirt) that sounds great. I may even have "goofyfam" on the back with our names so you know who we are. I am so excited about this trip that I have a feeling we may book a 7 night before we're finished with the 4 night. Yo ho, I love pirates! Is there also pin trading on the ship?

Can't really help you with the room question....we booked through DVC and our room has been assigned. It seems that the ship is pretty well booked so I am not sure what type of upgrades there will be available. AND yes! There is pin trading on the ships. Usually they are mentioned in the Navigator. Can't wait to see everyone!!!

I agree that the ship is pretty well booked. I think there are only a few cat. 10 and cat. 11 left. If you have a Disney confirmation number, which is different than your TA number usually, you can go on the DCL website, pull up your reservation and check out to see if you have a room number. As for being upgraded, you can have a room number or not and it just happens. There is no set pattern. The only ones that seem to have a better shot are cat.12 with 4 people. It doesn't matter if it is you first cruise or your ## cruise. It doesn't matter if you are celebrating anything special, since so many people on the ship are also celebrating something. Good luck. I hope you like your cabin. At least it is on the ship.

There was mention of doing a gift exchange between the children. There was mention of doing postcards or key chains as something done before. How did you work that out? At this point, our list is up to 34 children.

Looking for suggestions, ideas. I'm considering the cost and packing with this idea, but I also like it. Do we do it like a Secret Santa where each child gets another child that wants to particiapte? Then they find that child at the DIS meet to exchange?

I thought I read that someone was willing to keep a list so things are not duplicated?

Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful. I want to make sure if we would like to order anything, it has time to get to us before the cruise.

Everyone pms me as to their room number, number of kids(or people), and what they are bringing to give. Then before the cruise, everyone participating in the exchange will get a list of room numbers with number of participants in it and at some time during the cruise, you distribute your "gifts".

The secret santa way is to pm me your room number and number of participants. Then everyone gets paired up with someone else to exchange gifts with. This works great if everyone brings their gift. I have seen this backfire with someone getting no gift because of an error on the other person's part.

I vote for #1 - that everyone one involved get alittle something for each participant and distribute it to their fish extenders. There is actually a link for gift ideas for DIS fish extenders that I will post when I find it again.

We are in! This sounds like fun and something we would love to do. We found a great fish extender at a local $ store. Looks like the one posted except for each pocket there is a Pooh character. Anyway we vote for option 1! I will PM you my room number though I think I posted it here anyway. Both my girls are looking forward to meeting all of the other teens.

This is getting very exciting!!!! I am going to have to get to our dollar store and look for these fish extenders...I am not very good at sewing and everything I fabric glue together falls apart
