August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

Did you ever get it booked? At a good rate, I hope?

We did get booked... not great (had seen better but work got in the way) and we have to fly out of Pittsburgh - but the times are ok.

I am so excited to have that done though. Now to decide if I really want to do all the excursions through Disney - or just try some walking and train tours....

So I see that there are no spa ressies on the Embarkation day. Will there be anything offered after we're on ship, or does the spa stay closed that day?

Kim, the do spa ressies on embarkation day. They usually open up after the safety drill, which I think is at 4PM. I was able to see ressies for a facial starting at 5:45. So, check again, or the treatment you want has no more ressies.

Just found this thread about movies onboard the Magic this Summer:
The response is from Andrew UK. Looks like some good ones!

Hi Vicky, good to see another Brit. On our last cruise there were loads of people from the UK, but it had been offered to UK travel agents and Cast Members, so that boosted the numbers. The ship was only half full too!

Where do you live? We are between St Helens and Wigan, are you going from Liverpool or Manchester? I have just booked with Monarch out of Manchester, going the day before and staying one night in the Novotel. We already did two nights in Barcelona, so not going to go mad this time, just have a leisurely afternoon, maybe on the beach.

Mindy - I understand the food thing - I just love Chocolate, but I am a bit like an addict. If I don't have any I am fine, but once I have a taste, I have to eat the lot!

My OH loves his wine, but despite having the wine package last cruise it wasn't good, we probably only had one good bottle, along with my favourite Zinfandel throughout the entire cruise!

We did think of buying a few bottles to take on board, but not sure what the corkage charge would be - anyone know?

Kate

Kate

From what I understand the corkage fee is 15 a bottle.

Hello guys!

I've been a silent reader for a while now but I decided it was time to register and show my face. We (Mum, Dad and Me 15) will be joining you on the cruise. I'm so excited - we only booked it a few weeks ago so I feel a bit out-of-the-loop compared to you who have had it booked for almost two years! Already planning what to pack :cool1:

We just told them that they are going to Barcelona, more than that they didn't ask...if they had figured it out, I don't believe they'd be smart enough not to have slipped by now. I think I can keep the secret even until we get to the ship because when we leave our hotel Wednesday morning, I"m just going to tell them that we're transferring to a hotel that has a pool.

They're not going to think that's a little odd? As detailed-oriented as the 2 of you seem to be....

Won't matter for long, I suppose, as aren't you right near the port?

Not odd at all...Sam was already complaining that I booked a hotel that had no pool and he didn't want to go to the beach. I told him I couldn't find one with a pool and a room big enough for all of us. I can tell him that I found one while we were out sightseeing in Barcelona during the day. He's 9, there's no way he's going to think it all out...and if he does...he still won't know where we're going when we leave the hotel

Hi all!!!! I just got back from our weekend in Venice and now I am OMG excited about this upcoming cruise!!!! We took our 4.5 month old and she did just wonderfully. We literally had her in her ergo carrier all day for three days straight, she was great in the restaurants, etc. Makes me more sure that she will definitely be able to handle the all day excursions! She has been traveling since she was 4 weeks old so it makes sense, I guess. What a lucky baby though, she has been to 4 countries already and she is only 4.5 months old! LOL. I literally had pizza 4 times in three days and gelato WAY more then I can count. So much fun! Even in the rain... as for shoes

I will be bringing my Croc Flip Flops for the pool, my sneakers for the gym/rome/cinca terra/pompei, my joseph seibel sandles for walking, and my nice black heels for more formal dress. So excited!!! Still looking for people who might be interested in private excursions, just let me know :)

This is just so brilliant can you imagine their faces?! Are you going to video the reveal someway?

Mindy, you're lucky, my 9yo is pretty sharp and prob would somehow figure it out......

On another note... I'm trying to get in some sort of shape... I've been doing pilates at home, since beginning of Feb with a trainer. Today, I added a new thing to my workouts. I'm doing the couch to 4k workout series, today was the first work out.... In 8 weeks you should get to running a 5k... after today, I just think I'm going to die!!!! I've never sweated so much!!!!!! looking at the program, I figured it would be easy... NOT!!!! For those newbies, I had 2 strokes 5 years ago and put on over 75lbs while recovering in the hospital/rehab, and haven't lost all of it.... since my high I'm down almost 40 lbs so far... still want to lose 50 more though...... if I don't die first!!!!!!

Don't get discouraged! It will get easier...and even if you are sore, keep moving and drink tons of water! :woohoo:

Thank you for the welcome everyone :goodvibes

WOW! What a lucky baby! I've only been to 6-ish countries in my whole life. Will be able to add a whole lot more after this cruise though...

As for shoes...I was reading how some people take 6/7 pairs on holiday and was thinking, surely I don't take that many? There can only be so many shoes that I need. I then counted how many I'm going to take...boy was I wrong :rotfl: I'm packing: black heels, black flats (incase the ship is too wobbly for heels), trainery-type things, sandals, flip-flops for the pool, pink shoes (just because - oh! they go with my formal dress. At least that's what I told my mom) and I think there was something else but I can't remember. Don't get me started on the clothes...

Good luck with losing the weight! :lovestruc

Are the Disney cruises popular with Europeans?

I've never really thought about it before. I guess they aren't so much because normally they sail out of Florida so it is a long way to go for just a few days/a week so we, at least, have another week or so in florida. With all that added up it comes to quite a lot and I know lots of people couldn't afford to do that every year. You will probably see more europeans on this med cruise because there isn't far to go and it is for a longer period of time.

I don't know anyone who has been on a disney cruise before other than us.

Ooh, forgot to ask before. I saw some people mentioning that they would like to set up a fish-extender swap. I might be willing to join if there were enough people interested :goodvibes
