August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

I know the bookings start 9/28 for the Alaska cruise. I will be on the Wonder in December should I wait until then to book it since I will get a discount and then transfer it over to my TA. Or do I just book on 9/28, just nervous that if I wait until December I wont get the Category I want. Any suggestions :confused3

Yeah, I was disappointed that no info on the Dream was announced. I booked a dummy date onboard the Magic last week to transfer to the Dream. With it looking it more likely that the Dream will only be doing the shorter bahamas cruises, I'll probably book an Alaska for 2011 with that cruise. Then book the Dream or Fantasy for 2012 while onboard the Magic next year.

I am with you on that I was hoping the Dream would be the one going to Alaska.

I'd book on the 28th and see if you can get a better deal onboard, then cancel if the onboard deal is better. If you can get in early on the 28th, that deal might be cheaper rather than waiting until Dec. I'll be online at 8 to see pricing, and also on the phone for the transfer.

IGETTOGOTODISNEYWORLD!!!!!!!

Whew. Ok. I get to go to Disney world!!!!!!! Yea!!!!!

So, as the DIS GKTW running thing fell thru, DH offered a November trip!!!! I'd gotten ok with the idea of not going (as ok as one can get, anyway), so this came as a huge surprise!!!! We're staying at the Yacht Club...concierge....!!!! Is it November yet??????

You'll be there when? We go down to Orlando 10/31, but we're staying in our Marriott timeshare...they only Disney we are doing is trick or treating on Halloween. WE did it last year before our cruise and it was fabulous.

Nov 11th -18th. Missing F&W, but in time for holiday decorations. We did the Halloween party last year too and loved it. I'm planning to get tickets for the MVMCP as well...

we should start to see airfare open up...some airlines have opened up thorough the 24th of August.

You are right it is a little early for those details. I think when we had those 90 degree days last week it made me think that summer was upon us and that the flights would be opening soon. But we have plenty of time.

My son and I will be flying out of Newark (hopefully!) too. Only direct flight (on the return) leaves at 10:45 a.m. In the Disney FAQ they recommend you don't book a flight before 12:30 p.m. I can't really justify staying an extra night as we'll be arriving three days before the cruise leaves Barcelona. What are you and others doing about your return flights?

Thanks for any information you can provide!

I didn't know there were non-stop flights from BCN to EWR. What airline does that? As of right now, we're planning on driving to JFK and flying out of there, first to Paris for a few nights, then on to Barcelona for the cruise. We plan on staying the night in Barcelona after the cruise, because the non-stop from BCN we want to take to JFK, leaves at 11:30AM and I didn't want to rush off the ship to grab the flight.

Continental has direct flights to and from Newark (EWR) / Barcelona (BCN). The flight is scheduled to depart Barcelona at 10:45 a.m., so I guess we may be staying another night also. I'm just worried about when school will start next year.

WE want to go in early too...and the only direct flight from Newark on Continental is at 10:45 I"m at a loss...I was going to ask my TA

IF I want I could book my flights now, 4500 on Air France for the 4 of us... I'm going to wait and hope it goes down a bit..... First to CDG, then CDG to BCN, then BCN home....

I called Disney yesterday and told them the situation and received the explanation I figured I would: Basically we (Disney) know the accurate times and especially since you're going to be flying Internationally, these are the times you should stick with.

Let us know what your TA says. Thanks!

Ok, I've booked my flights. I talked to my TA and she said we absolutely won't make the 10:45 out of BCN on the return, so we're going to stay until Sunday. She also said the direct flight out of Newark on Continental is the only direct flight out of Newark. We booked it because from yesterday until today the price went up $40 per person. My TA doesn't think we'll get cheaper. There is a one stop flight out of JFK - Air Europa for $787, but I'd rather fly out closer to home and not have a stop. So now on to finding a hotel for the night before and the night after. From what I've seen that can be quite a chore, since many hotels only allow 2 in the room.

Thanks for the great information. I'll plan on booking my flights this weekend, or early next week. Same flights as yours!

Let me know what information you may find out about hotels before and after....my TA said Trip advisor or Cruise Critic might have the best advice.

I also called Disney and they said the same thing. I spoke to my TA and she said Disney was strict with them as well about the flight times.
We are flying out of JFK, American & Delta have direct flights. and just staying the night before the cruise and staying for one day after the cruise.

I've been looking at flights too, but I think I'm going to hold out a bit to book. It seems that they get cheaper month by month, and as there are no sub-$800 flights out of SFO, I'm going to wait until it gets below the $1280-1350 per person that it is currently. I am, however, looking at the Continental flights that connect in Newark...how funny if we all end up on the same flight! If I don't do Continental, then it will most likely be Delta, with American running a distant 3rd. United flies to Frankfurt before connecting and I just do not want to do that.

We went yesterday to see the Toy Story double feature in 3-D. It was very well done, and had some cute new clips at the end. Had I known they were having a costume contest, I would have dressed up DD...she's going to be Jessie this year!
