August 18, 2010...Can't wait for the MAGICal Mediterranean!!!

As many of you have noted, the rates for a 12 gty are too good to pass up! It will be me (Lisa) and my DD 11 (Sage) heading out for some mom-daughter time in the med! Give how port intense this cruise is, I'm not too worried about an upgrade (althought I'd certainly take one:lmao:)

Surprisingly, airfare from Toronto is relatively reasonable, less than $1000cdn each....now on to planning excursions and other adventures!

If there is a FE, count us in! Off to read :surfweb: and meet some of my fellow DISers!:banana:

Lisa

Welcome Lisa and Sage!:cheer2::cheer2:

We actually talked about an FE and decided against it. As it is with luggage charges and such, we agreed that having extra things to pack for a cruise this long, would be arduous at best. Mary (Pixie08) is going to try to arrange a meet and greet. Look for one of her post and she has a website for our cruise, with many of the board members on here...you can send her your info and she can add you.

Is the spa villa the one where you get massages and then you have the hot tub on the veranda? If so, we booked that for this time. We've never done that before.

Yes, We have never done it either but it looks amazing. :cloud9:

What day did you book? Trying to figure out what day to try and and do it.

So I don't have great news for all of you that downgraded your cabins this week. My husband spoke with our concierge and apparently there are a lot of available cat 11 cabins. She said the likelihood of an upgrade at this point is probably not good, but anything's possible. Also, there are a bunch of cat 4's available, so Lori, I'm hoping that's good news for you, perhaps if you don't like your assigned location, you can change it.

I hope so.... If they're are a bunch, WHY is it in GTY..... I just want an AFT location.... Forward would be my next choice... Midship LAST, unless it's a cat 3 midship......

EUR is at 1.22!!!! :banana::banana::banana:

I told them you have a 7 year old DD and my girls are excited. I'm printing up our 90-day countdown, 1 page per day calendar this week.

On a side note, I noticed you're from WA. I grew up in Tacoma, but never made it past Port Townsend.... :banana:

The calendar is a great idea!

We've been here 2 years this month. And I've only taken the ferry over to Port Townsend twice. I've gotten to Tacoma twice as well, I think. Trying to get anywhere south of here is such a pain! The ferry is expensive and isn't any faster than driving up and around. The summer is beautiful, though!

Also just read on main boards...On the last cruise they moved the sail-away party to around 4:30 instead of doing it when we sail at 9:30. I guess they saw that people were exhausted and didn't attend as much.

Now that was a smart idea!

I'm happy to hear that. 9:30 I'd still be at dinner and was a little annoyed to be missing sailaway. I like the party being moved, but don't like that we start actually moving while I'll be eating.

:welcome:

I think we have it the first sea day, but I'm not sure..I have to check
As I've told Mindy privately, DH and I will be crashing their spa villa if we can't get a ressie!!!:rolleyes::grouphug::flower3:

Mindy,

I saw another post where you were looking for a Port overview booklet. For our 2008 Eastbound Panama Canal Cruise, we did a travel journal for the kids on that cruise with fun facts and things for them to look for.

What we did is a few people took a port or 2 and did a journal page. I could head this up if we would like and print up journals. I can send you a copy of a few days.

Another fun thing for the adults was a "Drink of the Day" booklet. A passport type booklet. I successfully filled mine out. On the page you could write out the DOD and have the bartender "sign it" to be official....

Just some fun low cost ideas...

Erin..

I second that....would love to do that port booklet for the kids....You guys will have to advise me on what to put in because I can't ask my kids. Just so you know (everyone else does) my kids think they're going to Spain for 2 weeks...they have no idea about the cruise.

I must make you laugh. I yelled at DH today...I was quite mad. After braggin about have a spa villa, I went on my ressie and saw that I had a couples choice (now remember, I didn't book the spa villa...he did). All it said in my ressie was that I got a choice of a 75 minute treatment. Boy was I mad because I didn't even like the choices.

When I called him, he said the ressie didn't have the full description and what did I think we were going to do the other 65 minutes that we had...he made me go out to the main descriptions where I saw we had a villa....OOOPS:confused3:confused3:confused3
