I was reading a post, and I can't remember exactly where, I don't think it was these boards. But the poster commented that they were surprised that their 5 night cruise would not have a formal night. Anyone know if that is the case for our cruise?

Hello everyone! It's the start of a new week and this is the my last day of vacation. :sad2: I have a doctor's appointment today and then go grocery shopping since we have not been home for over a week. I am glad to be home but we had a wonderful vacation visiting DMIL in Barbados. The beach was lovely and the water was so warm. It was good to get away. Now, back to the daily grind. Have a wonderful day.

Yea it's Friday!

I'm doing my first 5K tomorrow. I can sometims run 5K but we'll see. Hopefully it won't be too cold in the morning.

To fight boredom, I download audio books from our library's Overdrive to the ipod. It keeps me going much longer than music. Especially since the ipod belongs to my 9yo son. You can only run so many times to Crazy Frog.

I am most often a lurker on this thread - I just can't seem to keep up with all of the posts - but I read about your first 5K and had to share that I ran my first 5K on Saturday as well. I was caught up in all of the excitement and ran the first mile must faster than I should have, so by mile 2.5 I was pretty much wiped out. But my oldest DD (the real runner in the family who ran with me) encouraged me to take a brief walking break and then finish out strong. I ended up finishing in under 34 minutes - a definite personal best for me. I'm one step closer to the Wine and Dine run in October. I'm running the relay with my DD's boyfriend. Originaly I was going to run 5 miles and he was going to do the 8.1, but the more I get into training the more I want to run the 8 miles. My DD thinks I should set a goal of running the 8 miles in 80 minutes. Not so sure that's going to happen, but I'm going to work hard to get as close as possible (I love a challenge)!

Congrats on your race!! My biggest challenge is always going out too fast as well. My last race at the first mile mark I was 40 seconds faster than the pace I wanted to be at.... needless to say my finish was less than spectacular :rotfl2:

Think good thoughts for me my hubby wants to switch to differnt cruise line because its cheaper. I keep saying NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanna stick with disney. I talk with the kids and they say disney. So I keep throwing that at him. My boys have no idea we are doing this.

Oh, I hope that you can talk him out of it. I think that this will be a fun cruise. I am so excited to see everything on the new ship. My sister just booked (with Carol - thanks to you, Kristin!) and she will sail before we do. I can't wait to hear all the descriptions.

Mrebuck - congrats on finishing the 5K! And believe me, that's not a time to scoff at!!! I haven't gotten to the 8 mile mark yet but I'm hoping...

And I think I need to make a tshirt with Jen's saying:
Dead Last Finish
is Greater Than
Did Not Finish
which Greatly Trumps
Did Not Even Start!
...maybe with a happy little turtle picture??? :rotfl2:

I like it. Before I left home that morning, I told my two younger DDs that my goal was to not come in last. Then I joked that if it looked like I might finish last, I'd just trip their big sister so I could finish in front of her. Luckily I didn't have to trip anyone!

Hi, from WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT TIME AND GREAT WEATHER!!!

How sad that it is the last day of your vacation...but it sounds like you had a wonderful time! :thumbsup2 Glad you were able to get away and do something wonderful.

Hi, from WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI Kristin!

Yeah o the 5K! Sounds like you had a bit of a struggle but you finished and that is the most important thing. I love your goal for 8 miles! DH and I are working on trying to keep closer to 10' or 10'30" miles. It just seems so fast.

Congrats on your race!! My biggest challenge is always going out too fast as well. My last race at the first mile mark I was 40 seconds faster than the pace I wanted to be at.... needless to say my finish was less than spectacular :rotfl2:

I do this all the time...even when I am doing a training run. I suddenly realize that we are running way too fast and know if we do not slow down we will not make it.

Hey Harry.

We went to MK today and then had a relaxing afternoon by the pool..:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Glad to see you made it out to the pool! Hope you are relaxing and enjoying the sun!

I am so excited that your sister is cruising before us...I want details! Make sure she knows she must take thousands of photos and write EVERYTHING down! :rotfl2:

BTW - I wore my awesome shirt out running tonight! I LOVE it!

We're doing the 5K that weekend. That's my motivation to keep running. I told myself that if I keep running I will take the extra week and go for the race. Our original vacation (a cruise) starts Oct. 9th so we're going a week early. I'm trying to decide if I want to do a 5k around here or if I want to save it and have my first 5k be at Diseny!!!:cool1: I can't even imagine being able to run the half or even half of the half by then, but you never know.

I am far from experienced (having just run my first race), but I'm glad I have that experience under my belt. I was really nervous before the race, not knowing what to expect. And I learned the hard way about the need to watch my pacing more closely. I think it was definitely a worthwhile experience, and I think the more races I run, the more comfortable I'll be with it. I'm planning to run several other local 5k and 10Ks before the October race. I really want to be able to enjoy my Disney race, and running races before then is my way of trying to make sure that happens.
