Hi everyone! We have been at the cabin since Friday and are having such a great time because the weather has been beautiful. It has pretty much just been 3 days of good food, visiting with friends, hanging out at the lake and total relaxation. Unfortunately yesterday we had a bit of an issue with our van....the ignition switch broke....so we will be trying to get it repaired when things open again tomorrow. Trying not to worry about that though and just enjoying the warm days at the lake.

It just took me almost 1/2 hr to read everything from the last 2 days cause I didn't get a chance to read last night-- paying bills gets in the way of having fun!

Have a great 4th of July weekend to everyone. I am so excited about having 3 days off of work cause the next time I get time off of work will be vacation!!!! :cool1: We're starting our vacation the Thursday night before the cruise by taking the boys to the American Idol concert in Baltimore. So, I figured if we were doing that, let's make that the offical start of vacation and I took off Friday too.

I am another one that is unhappy about this port arrival thing and am going to email my travel agent over the weekend as well as emailing the link that someone posted earlier. I do not want to have to pay another day of car rental because of this. Poor planning by Disney.

Enjoy your days off Sherri! I have not been reading the boards like I do when I am at home and it does take a long time to get caught up with all the posts! I love it though because it means we are all excited with our plans!

You are right about poor planning by Disney. We could potentially have to pay more for our rental as well and I am not pleased at all. I am another one who e-mailed Disney directly and am waiting for their response.

My TA is on the Magic in the Med right now so no word from her. Besides the posting from Dreams on Facebook and the fallout here, is it on the official website yet? I should have added that we hadn't even been notified of the change. Did they think that when our tickets arrived a few weeks before the cruise that would be sufficient notice? The whole way this has been handled just seems haphazard...I just can't imagine how they are going to handle/control the lines outside, especially from those who didn't know about the change

Someone posted that when they got their cruise documents for the August 2nd cruise, there was not official notice in the paperwork...just a sentence about it in small print at the bottom of one of the papers. I have a feeling that it is going to be a total mess.

Hey all,

1st summer term session is over and my grades are in! Phew! :) Of course, session 2 starts on Tuesday... but once that is over, the cruise is here!

I noticed that the 5-day (Tues) Navigators are up on the DIS site in much better quality--you can really zoom in on them. Here's the link if you haven't checked it out yet:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-stateroom-navigator.htm
(The date that matches us is 6/7/11)

Great job finishing your 1st summer term! Hopefully you can celebrate a little before starting the 2nd one.

Thanks for posting the other navigators. I will be putting those on the website this week for everyone!

I got my packing cubes and toiletry bag yesterday and tried them out today. I was concerned by the sizes of the cubes (large was what I expected to be med). At first, I didn't get much in the med. Then I tried 2 layers of rolled shirts. BINGO! Hubby will probably not use his set, so I'll use it for the kids. No need to buy more. I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE the toiletry bag. Doesn't quite fit EVERYTHING, but it's so much better than the little makeup bag I currently use. Love that it hangs, too.

I got some of my order before we left and really love them! I didn't know about the toiletry bag and might need to look into that!

Family of 4 really really wants early seating anyone want to switch please......

Has anyone had luck swapping on board?

Thank

Steve

Hey Steve - I agree with the recommendations of calling DCL and getting put on the waitlist. Then, when you board the ship, go see if it was changed or can be changed. I think people are fairly successful in changing if they work at it a bit.

Our arrival time was changed from 10:30-11:00 to 11:00-11:30. I did not even know about the port opening at 11:00 a.m. until ?I read it on our Facebook page and then read it here on the DIS. Since we are driving, we will be leaving a little later from AKV. I have to find out what our friends' arrival time is.

I hope everyone enjoys the July 4th holiday. We do not have anything planned. My parents are coming down on the 4th and will be staying for a week to watch DS since his daycare is closed next week. I want to barbecue on the grill so I am hoping it does not rain. Our volunteer fire department is doing fireworks tonight but we are not going. DS is not into loud fireworks. He likes to watch things from a distance.

Enjoy your weekend.

Happy 4th of July to you! Sounds like you will have a relaxing sort of day and that is always nice.

Packing Cube Update Here!!

:thumbsup2 from the Folchick Family.

I love that you posted how you packed her stuff for camp using the packing cubes! Sounds like it worked out great for you guys! Tell DD to have fun at camp!

HAPPY 4th OF JULY WEEKEND!!

Happy 4th of July Kristin! Please tell the whole family to have a great day today and that we wish we were out there with you all!

Happy 4th July
:cool1:Just wanted to wish you happy holidays!

I got so excited, I went to my local supermarket and they had a selection of American goodies!

Of course I had to buy them - so this morning for breakfast I'm having American pancakes and maple syrup !:cutie:

Thank you for the happy holiday wishes! I hope you enjoy your day as well. I am thinking that I will be making pancakes today or tomorrow...the whole family loves them. I thought it would be today but DS is still sleeping as we have been out in the fresh air and sunshine everyday - I think he was exhausted because he never sleeps this late!

HAPPY 4th of JULY !!!!!!

How will you be celebrating ? are offices etc. closed for some days ?

I'm home TODAY , no school today !!

Hello Laura! I hope you got my e-mail. I am so happy to see that you are HOME and enjoying the summer finally!

We will be celebrating up at the lake today by just hanging out with all our family and friends. There will be fireworks over the lake in the evening. Hopefully the bugs will not be too bad! YUCK!

Thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. The surgery went very well. It was broken in quite a few places, so I now have a couple of metal plates and screws keeping everything in place. My DS calls it a bionic arm. :cutie: The pain has gradually decreased so now I just have to get the cast on Thursday.

Now, to catch up on all these posts...:goodvibes

I am so happy to read that your surgery went well and the pain is decreasing! Now you can rest a bit and try to be all better by vacation time!

Happy 4th Of July!!

Happy 4th of July to you too!

I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing holiday with all their family and friends!

You're with Carol too, right?

I'm with Carol too! Just referred my brother to her as well.

Wishing you a smooth recovery!

Jen-- I'm envious of you at the cabin. I've only been to MN once -- a long time ago and one of my best memories is the day that our MN family took us to their cabin at some lake and we spent the day at the cabin and out on the catamaran. It's beautiful up there. Enjoy!

Well.... I did my best to help the economy yesterday. Family trip to Kohls. Over $300 later..... lots of clothes. DS11 is growing so quickly right now that we have had to buy him lots more summer clothes plus polos/dress pants for dinner on the cruise. DS15 got a new bathing suit which he loves. DH bought new shirts. And, of course...if I was at Kohls, I had to buy something too. We did well with out 15% coupon, a $5 coupon that they had sent me, and a $10 coupon they sent me for my birthday.

Have a great 4th of July everyone!!!! Thank you to all in our past that have provided us with freedom!

Glad your surgery went well, hope you are on the road to recovery and feeling better soon!

DD made it to camp with no issues (except that they must have had a wicked rain storm right before we arrived because everything was muddy and flooded). We were the last to arrive to her cabin but luckily the bunk she wanted was the one open. I unzipped her duffle, pulled out her packing cubes, put them on the shelf and she was unpacked! Then we were given the all clear that there were no other parents around and we should leave-parents of teens, you know the look! :rotfl2: They'll be posting pictures on a website later today so hopefully I'll be able to see her having fun. I have a waterproof camera to send her later in a little care package.

Weekend is turning out really nice weather-wise. Enjoy the 4th!

We had an AWESOME weekend!! Saturday swimming & fireworks with friends and family!! Then again much of the same!!

Ok, I think we FINALLY are going to book our plane tickets this week!

I had thought about staying at WDW Thurs night before Vero Beach, but I think that might just be crazy (and require grading my students' exams on the plane ride down). We are already spending Fri night with my aunt and uncle before driving down to Vero.

Still waiting to see if we get lucky with the VBR waitlist... hoping for a kitchen!

Has anyone done onboard checkin before? We'll be flying Jet Blue, and it sounds like when we put our luggage outside our room on Sat night, we wouldn't see it again until we pick it up at our home airport. Is that true? Also, there is a flight that leaves at 11:32AM and DCL says your flight has to be after 11:25AM to be able to use onboard checkin (w/DCL transfers).... veterans, is that cutting it too close? (Last time, we went to WDW for a night afterwards.)

We once had a 11:00 flight home after our cruise and we made it just fine. At that time they did not have onboard check-in for the airlines!!!Sorry!!
