We're not as big on Vinylmation, but my daughter (thanks to her cousin's gift from Tokyo) is in love with Duffy and Shellie May. Any others with bear obsessions?

To be honest, I didn't care for them either...until suddenly I did!

I have never heard of Shellie May, but I do think Duffy is cute.

I am glad you were able to make that change Julie! It looks like some availability has opened up on this sailing since the 90 day mark. Before that, it was booked pretty solid.

I have never heard of Shellie May, but I do think Duffy is cute.

Shellie May is Duffy's girlfriend--she is very cute, too. She's pinker than Duffy. They haven't released her in the US yet, just in Tokyo. She's gotten into bear clothes, but we haven't been able to get any Shellie May clothes--they're SCARY expensive!

I'm making final selections of what we want to do for excursions and I'm trying to find out information for Skagway. Anyone know if and when the Evening Wildlife Expedition is offered?

Cruise approximately 45 minutes down the glacial fjord between Skagway and Haines on a catamaran, enjoying a narration, and close-to-the-water views of scenic waterfalls and marine wildlife. Note: This tour runs August through September.
Arrive in Haines and travel by expedition bus to the sheltered Chilkoot River Valley, for centuries the favorite fishing site for the Tlingit People and also for brown bears.


We have done the White Pass Rail tour twice before and although the steam engine version is tempting, this trip to Haines is the one my DH chose. I'm hoping it is offered while we are in Skagway. The chance to see brown bear instead of the usual black bear is also a huge draw for both of us.

I can make our excursion reservations tomorrow night so I'm finally trying to figure out which ones we want.

I think the times above may be the "all aboard times." According to the cruise ship calendar (www.claalaska.com), the port times are as follows:

Skagway -- 7:00 am to 8:00 pm
Juneau -- 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
Ketchikan -- 1:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Being onboard 1/2 hour before these departure times is consistent with the times Mellers listed.
