Plans for today: Morning: AK Evening: MGM P/S: dinner 50's Prime Time
Friday, August 31
I got up first again, went for a walk around the Polynesian. This place is so peaceful. The (my) plan was to get to AK before it opened, but decided to let DH and DD sleep a little longer. I walked over to the Kona Coffee bar and got coffed for me and DH, and pick up some donut hole type things...When I got back to the room DD was just coming around, We went out on the patio, and there were ducks every where. She fed the ducks some of her donut hole, and they would even eat right out of her hand, she was so excited. I later saw a sign that said not to feed the birds (not sure if that included the ducks, but better safe than sorry). Since I didn't want to go to Disney Jail, I decided we shouldn't feed the ducks anymore. But it was fun.
We got to AK about 9:15, looked around as we headed to the Festival of the Lion King. DH and DD went to get us seats and I went on over to get FP for the safari. We all enjoyed the show very much, one of the best we saw the whole trip. (Disney Dreams on the Wonder was the Best show we saw) We then went to the safari, and then lunch at Tusker House... Lunch was pretty good. We headed over to ride the rapids.. it was very hot and decided that getting a little wet might be fun. On the way over we noticed that the Bird show was going to be starting soon, so again DD and DH got us a seat and went for the FP at the rapids.
The bird show was pretty good, and we didn't just get a little wet on the rapids.... We Got SOAKED!!!! ... It was hot and we were headed out of the park anyway, so none of us really cared...(DH took off his shirt before the ride, so atleast he had a dry shirt)
If I had thought to bring our swim gear we would have headed straight over to Typhoon Lagoon. I was disappointed that we had missed going yesterday. But we didn't ( have the swim gear) so we went back to the Polynesian so sleepy head (DH) could get his nap.
I realized that I had over planned the day, (at least as far as DH was concerned) DH was looking for a real vacation which for him means resting.... So I decided that if he was ever going to let me come to WDW again I would have to cut back and give him plenty of time to kick back and rest. So I decided that we shouldn't plan to go to MGM and canceled our P/S at 50's PT. and made a PS at Ohana, and bought tickets for e-night.
DD and I headed over to the volcano pool, I went down the slide first to check it out and to be at the bottom when she came out. I liked the slide, but was afraid that she wouldn't, Well, she loved it and went down about 8 more times. I didn't do it again, just rested in the water while she did all the work. The pool wasn't too crowded, but there were plenty of adults and kids going down the slide. About 4pm we went back to the room and changed. I asked DH if he wanted to go rent a water mouse - He didn't (party pooper) So DD and I went on our own. Our ride only lasted aabout 10 mins. Just after we got going it started raining, then it started to pour!!! It rained so hard I could hardly keep my eyes open enough to see where I was going. The patrol boat called everyone in and the CM at the booth said if I came back tomorrow he would let me go again. (we never found time to return, but the full about was charged to my room). DD didn't like the water mouse too much, or maybe it was my driving she didn't like. I made too many sharp turns, which I thought was fun, but she didn't. I thought it was great fun...wish I could have done it again.
So back to the room to get into more dry clothes... should have just left on the swimsuits. It was time to get ready for our p/s at Ohanas.
DH ordered a Lapu Lapu, It was really good, and fun....got alot of pictues of him drinking out of the pineapple. We really enjoyed the appitizers. The meat was pretty good, but DD and DH really only liked the shrimp... I liked it all. The pineapple with the sauce at the end was great. DD came in last in the coconut race, but got a hand full of gummy worms anyway.
It was time to head to MK for e-night, we took the resort boat over, which was very nice, except my husband kept standing up and the driver had to keep telling him to sit down... She was very funny and nice about it....
After getting our wrist bands we headed to Splash Mountian - it was DD first time and it was fun. DH and I had been on the one at Disneyland, and this seemed different. We didn't get wet. Then it was off to BTMRR, DD did not like this one little bit, so we decided that Space MT. was out of the question... Too Bad.. We walked over to Tomorrow Land, pushing DD in an abandoned stroller, one of MANY left along the way, and rode Buzz.... Now this is a pretty cool ride, first time for all of us. DD did the spinning, and DH and I did the shooting. I got like 680000000000000000 points and he got about 5000, what a hoot....!!! Over to TTA, then back to the monorail and home. Got to breifly see the EWP from the monorail, but only from afar, we never got to see it the whole stay. Back to the Polynesian. I had requested turn down service for our stay and it was always nice to come back to a tidy room with the beds turned down, the chocolates, and the cute things they did with DD's stuffed Goofy, Minnie and Mickey....
Tomorrows plans were to be MK and open after noon. I changed them to MGM and open afternoon.....hoping for a chance to go to TL finally.
