Hi! My family is hopefully planning to take this cruise.
Can anyone tell me how much the transfers are from the Barcelona Airport to the Port?
or do you recommend taxi service? Upon return, does ship dock early as it does in Port Canaveral ?
Want to make sure I'm not booking my return flight too early if that's not the case.

Thanks in Advance!

Sorry, don't recall how much the transfers were (but it was several years ago), but here's the info from the DCL website re flight time recommendations:

Please allow ample time for all your travel connections. We recommend the following flight-time guidelines:
  • Latest arrival time to Barcelona International Airport on Embarkation Day: 1:30 PM
  • Earliest departure time from Barcelona International Airport on Debarkation Day: 11:30 AM

There's a bunch more info there.

Taxi is best but they drive fast. DCL has a good coach service but waits to fill up. Plenty of taxis in the port and airport. Our pre booked transfer didn't show on one leg so best to turn up and go. All are metered. I have a trip log of my cruise with photos inc Barcelona http://mickeymed.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1 public transport the airport bus and train are good to the city centre.

Our Med cruises on DCL have all been back early, similar to PC. We have docked at 5 am and could get off at 7 am. Last time we choose breakfast and got off at 8 am. Baggage reclaim is fast and easy. Again lots of photos in the link provided. The transfer time to the airport depends on the day of the week. Weekdays you may well hit rush hour and like any working city it will take longer. Quickest times is around thirty minutes, but average is forty five and allow an hour to be safe. Weekends of course are quicker.

We took the taxi both med cruises to our hotel 2010 and took one to our TripAdvisor flat 2012. In 2012, we took a coach back directly to the airport.

In 2014, the transfers were $30pp. We took the Disney transfer to the airport when we disembarked and were there so early for our 12:30 flight they weren't sure they could check us in. I'm not sure of the time but we had main dining breakfast and then left. We did a taxi to the port at the beginning of the cruise and they do indeed drive fast. :rotfl2:

Breakfast was 7 am and 8.15 but you could eat at Cabanas. There is a debarked leaflet on my trip report.

Beware over the years the transfers have evolved, we first went with DCL from Barcelona in 2007 and Then over the last nine years has changed a lot. It's more organised and more taxis there you get on and off by a gangway walk to deck 3 like PC whereas in the last you got on at deck2. So when comparing responses it's best to find out what's current and what expierances were years ago.

Normally debark is quick and many are at the airport too quick.

Thank you for all the responses!
I'm hoping to track down the most recent pricing. Oddly when on DCL website I don't see option for transfers.
Airfare to Barcelona will probably be the deal breaker here.

If you don't add the transfers at the time you make your original reservation, you need to call DCL to add them.

We used Barcelona day tours for transfers from airport to hotel, from hotel to port, from port to airport and for tours in Barcelona. They were always on time.

I used them as well but they dropped one transfer hotel to ship I got a full refund and apology but now would use regular taxis. While they were sorting it out about ten cruise families went by standby taxi to the port. Not a great start.

You get a slip on the cruise documents to add these. It's easy to add and the end of cruise ones can be added on the ship.

We used Barcelona Day Tours. I booked online and what was really neat was we did a tour of the city right from picking us up at the airport and then they dropped us off right at our hotel after the tour. Coming from the US and trying to adjust to the time change it is better to stay up all day the day you get there. So we thought going on a tour would keep us up and busy. It worked out great!! Barcelona Day Tours was at the airport to meet us, the tour was great and then easy drop off at the hotel. I would definitely recommend them and doing a tour with transfer from the airport. Good luck with your planning!

Barcelona is very close to the city centre and port, and most taxis can have 3 to 4 passagers. I wouldn't sorry too much as it is really an easy port to reach.

We have used normal on demand taxis to get around in Barcelona staying in the city in a hotel, yes thry take four very easy and larger ones can be ordered or on demand at the airport or port. I have photos in my trip report link posted before.

As said I pre paid Barcelona day tours, 1/ Airport pick up, was ok, 2/ hotel yo cruise port, no show, on the phone complaining in spainish, getting cut off, hotel helped me, and everyone else going by on demand taxi. 3/ tour post cruise meet time 8.30, showed up 9.20 am, I see praise here but that's my experience, they did refund the hotel to port one. On demand taxis are cheaper, better and freely available. I agree with the post quoted.
